My first was 7 lb 4 oz and lasted 6 hours.
My next was a unexpectedly huge chunk, 10 lb 8oz, and lasted 3.5 hours (Would have been a bit quicker if he wasn't so large).
We are going for number 3 soon and I was just wondering if labour & birth would be quick as my last one must have stretched a few muscles!

Have any of you ladies had a very large baby & gone on to have very fast births the the next time?

My 1st was on the larger size (9lbs 15) and labour was 6 hours start to finish. My 2nd was only 8lbs but my labour was longer, around 9 hours with some contractions in the night before it started.

I'm not sure it makes a difference...my first baby was 6lbs 12 oz and I labored for over 12 hours, my second baby was even less 6lbs 8 oz and she came out way faster! I was only in active labor for a few hours and it only took me about 4 pushes to get her out!

My first was 7 lbs and labour was 11 hours. My second was 9lbs 10oz and labour was 4.5 hours. So it was true for me but everyone's bodies are different x

I also think if it is a subsequent birth it probably has more to do with that than the size of the baby.

^^ Yeah, I've heard that the general rule of thumb is to halve the length of your 1st labour and that's how long you can expect your 2nd labour to be. Obviously it's not an exact science (or even close lol) but usually 2nd labours are shorter.

Size of baby doesnt cut time down, however as you have more children length is mention to decrease but this isnt case for everyone.
