Hi girls,

I had a laparoscopy and dye test 2 weeks ago as I have been unable to conceive. I was diagnosed with pcos last year.

Anyway, after my lap, the doctor told me my tubes are clear but I have enlarged ovaries and the have an extra layer of tissue/skin covering them. They said they lasered/drilled through this and there were loads of cysts underneath - they also drilled these.

They told me that I definately have pcos but didn't tell me what the extra coating of tissue/skin was, they just told me that the next 2 months are crucial in conceiving and to try as much as we could.

Now, after spending alot of time reading about this, I've come to the conclusion that this 'extra skin/tissue' over my ovaries could infact be Endometriosis. I'm not sure if I'm jumping to conclusions here but everything I've read about Endo seems to match what the docs have told me and I'm not sure what else it could be..

I think I might ring my consultant tomorrow and ask them if that's what it is.

What do you girls think?

Thank you :flower:

Sounds like ovarian drilling for PCOS:

Hi, thankyou for your reply :) Yes, they said that they did ovarian drilling for my pcos but they didn't elaborate on what the extra skin/tissue covering my ovaries was. And i'm now wondering if that's caused by endo? (as well as me having pcos) x

Hey, I had something similar, I had suspected endo, I had a lap, after the lap they told me I have enlarged ovarys, my left tube is blocked and my left ovary is covered in a film of tissue. I wasnt TTC at the time but they have put the FS name on my notes that I will have to go see in May next year if we havent caught.

Hope you get some answers, I dont have to go see my consultant for my post op appointment until december, I am hoping to be pregnant by then.

Thanks for your reply :)

I'm sorry to hear about your blocked tube as well as enlarged ovaries. I hope you manage to conceive before your appointment in December. I'm going to see my specialist in November - I too hope to be pregnant by then. Fingers crossed..

Did your doctor tell you what the film of tissue covering your ovary was? This is what has me baffled and has made me wonder if I have endo too? xx

Hi, thanks for your reply :)

You sound similar to me, I have a period about once every 4 or 5 months - it's so frustrating. I had my lap, dye & drilling nearly 3 weeks ago and haven't got anything close to a positive OPK yet, and my temps are still eratic :nope:

I'm so pleased to hear that you got pregnant so soon after your lap, and I am so sorry to hear about your mc :hugs: that must have been heartbreaking after waiting so long.

I hope you get another BFP soon xx

P.S. Your dog is gorgeous :) I too have a staff, we rescued him 3 1/2 years ago. He's 10 now and is amazing x

Does anyone else have any idea if this skin/tissue coating on my ovaries could be endo? I have no idea what else it could be. I'm confused.com

I am no dr, but I would think the film over you ovaries would just be caused by your pcos and not endo - but phone up your specialist to put your mind at rest x

Thankyou :flower:

I'd never heard of pcos causing this, that's why I was puzzled by it. But I guess if it was endo they'd have told me.

I tried ringing my specialists secretary today but she isn't in until tomorrow, so I might try then. Not that it makes all that much difference anyway! I have a 6 week window to conceive and that's all that really matters. I don't know why I was so desperate to put a label on it in the first place

I know that I have pcos and enlarged ovaries, so at least I have answers to why I have been unable to conceive and I now have a better chance (if only for a few weeks).

I think I'll forget about it now and concentrate on :sex:

xx

I'm not 100% sure but my sister has PCOS and is currently waiting for an appointment with a specialist. Her family doctor told her that a symptom of PCOS is a thick layer of covering (he didn't use the word skin, so I'm not sure if it is the same thing your specialist saw) with multiple cysts underneath.

I hope you get your BFP soon. One positive thing - for some reason AFTER undergoing a test with dye some women find it easier to get pregnant for a month or 2. The reasons aren't completely known, but it is thought that even when the tubes weren't blocked, the dye clears out any build up of mucous and gunk (best word I could think of) that naturally has accumulated in the tubes over the years. So some women, even after trying for years and being told after the test that their tubes were clear, get pregnant shortly after the test. Of course, that is very frustrating when you aren't ovulating which is another symptom of PCOS. I hope you get a positive OPK soon and get your chance to test your "cleared out" tubes. Hopefully the specialist can give you something to induce ovulation if it doesn't happen on its own. Good luck!

The symptoms of a thick covering with cysts underneath sounds exactly like what I was told I had after my op - so it must definately be linked to my pcos.

Thank you for your reply, it has really put my mind at rest

A few people have told me the same about the dye helping to 'clear out' the tubes, so hopefully that's the case for me too! I'm currently on day 50 of my cycle with no sign of ov. but the lap may well have disturbed my cycle too. Hopefully I will ov soon so I can have a good shot at conceiving.

I'm feeling really positive after my lap. BRING IT ON :haha:

Good luck to you all for getting your BFP xx
