Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if you was given formula milk for your babies when you was in hospital (antenatal ward)??
When I had my son in 2007, I was given the pre steralised bottles the whole time I was in there but i've heard they don't do this anymore and you have to take your own bottles and formula.
Thank you xxxx

Depends on your hospital. Ours provide it glass bottles with sterile teats for each feed but i know some don't :)

I BF but had to top Emms up with formula as her blood sugar levels were low, and they did provide the ready made bottles of formula. I just had to take the empty glass bottle back to them when I needed another one.

Always check that they give you the right one back though!!! On two occasions a nurse gave me formula for preemie babies instead of level 1 Cow & Gate.

They gave my LO formula by a sringe, as FFing was not optional, but I couldnt BF & insisted on FFing. I think u need to check with ur hospital xx

ours do, but a lot dont - i guess hyou could just call them and check hun x

I was BF-ing in hospital, but a couple of Mums in the ward were FF-ing, and they were given the choice of SMA or Cow and Gate. It seemed to come in sterilised bottles, certainly the Mums didn't have to provide anything :)

Like the others have said, you could always phone the hospital, or just wait and ask at your antenatal classes (if you're going to them!)

oh and if you have to take milk you can buy the sma & cow and gate starter packs which are the same as ther nhs (depending on where you live) provide x
i bought them just for coming home so i didnt have to faff about with bottles/steriliser when we first got home

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think i'll have to call the hospital and ask them, the thing is the labour ward is changing to a different hospital probably around the same time I'm due to have bubba so rules may change when it goes to the different hospital.
Thanks again xxxxx
