Hi all you lovely ladies

Had my 13 week scan today and the doc said she was 100% certain of the gender.

I have been reading and researching every pic I can get my hands on with nubs and potty shots so that I would hopefully be able to tell myself during the scan and I could also see straight away ...

Just wanted to post this pic to see what the guesses are. I have two boys and this is our third and last baby.

Yes! Just found this on the CD of pics from the scan the doctor gave me where she zoomed in on the nub and measured the angle!

Where do you live (if you don't mind sharing)? I've never heard of them giving a 100% certainty on gender at 13 weeks! That's awesome that you can have a gender scan so early :)

I'm in South Africa. It's so weird how it's completely normal practice here that you find out the gender at 13 weeks. I had no idea it was such a rarity until I came on here :)

I am going to ask my Gynae next time I see him why we are so confident here about the certainty. I've not really heard of them getting it wrong too often either. But most of us are on a private health care system here so perhaps that's why?

It's really weird, here (UK) the earliest you can book a gender scan (at least as far as I know, may have changed in the last couple of years) is 16 weeks and even then it isn't super unusual to hear "girl" and then to find out at the 20 week scan that it's a boy! I wonder if they have better machines over in SA or if the techs are just better at reading the scans?

I thought the actual differences in girls and boys was not always noticable early on

I know!!!! I wonder the exact same thing myself. All I know is that the 13 and 20 week scans are done by OBGYNs who specialize in only those two dating scans. The practice I go to has 4 dedicated doctors who do about 5-6 scans a day, every single day. That is all they do at the practice.

I am sure they get it wrong every now and then as is the nature of human error but yes they confidently assert that they can see the gender that early :)

Looks very girly to me but I have seen 13w scans look girly and end up being a boy. Not often but I know about three ladies on bnb, and one had her heart set in a girl/bought a bunch of "girl" things to find out at 20w she was having a boy

Dobby the same happened to my best friend. If that's the case with me I would actually have heart failure! My dreams would shatter. I thought I would be cautiously optimistic but I am overboard excited!

I seriously doubt the doctor would have said 100% girl if she wasn't absolutely clear about it. There is always the chance of error which is why I haven't bought anything and am waiting for my obgyn to scan me at 17 weeks but in my heart I know this is a girl. Hold those thumbs for me!!
