I am wondering if I just have a lazy baby or if I should be real worried....

I was into the hospital last week for reduced movement. LO was fine, very good heart rate and etc.

I have a doppler that I use sometimes just to hear her HB but I know it's not the indicator of health to go by.

Anyway I do feel her thru out the day but it's very random. When I'm at work I don't always feel much. At home when I'm sat down or laying I focus in a lot and try to notice it. Sometimes she's active at night, sometimes not. Rarely is there a lot of activity in the morning.

This is my first and I'm just not sure what to expect and what to do.

Until this week I only felt bubba in the morning and at night really, sometimes more than others. Midwife told me that providing I feel 10 kicks or movement in a day I shouldnt worry. Have you tried the lying on your left hand side and drinking ice cold water thing to get bubba moving?? If you have an anterior that could be alot to do with it TBH. x

I am the same I am 27 weeks tomorrow and only really this week have I noticed baby moving, I have an anterior placenta and at work I hardly noticed him much but in the evenings and at weekends I do, this is my first as well so unsure of what to expect.

First im going to say if your concerned call your midwife.... Then ill say this!

My ladies has always had a very VERY varied pattern of movements. Some days she moves loads, others she hardly moves at all. I have been monitored like 11 times now! And even then, she hasnt moved whilst im there BUT her heart rate was fine and fluctuated like they expected it too.

Not all babies move constantly :)

But like I said, if your concerned call them xxx

I have felt a few here at work so I don't think I need to call them today....it's just nervewracking and frustrating that honestly I keep thinking she has had something bad happen in there!

hey hun im not quite as far as you but im in the same situation! i have an anterior placenta and sometimes i go a day without feeling my little man at all and other days i feel him loads, depending on what position he's in. i wasnt sure about kick counting so i phones my midwife and she said theres no real guidelines about feeling baby move and a move can be a kick, swoosh, punch etc she said 10 times a day(24 hours) is kind of a rule of thumb but every baby and pregnancy is different.

she said once i feel him during the day/night at a time thats usual for him to move then everything should be fine but if i ever feel unsure just to go straight in and they wont ever think im silly etc as its something they take so seriously! hope your little one starts kicking and moving like crazy soon but i reckon we might just have lazy babies lol xxxx

Im now 35 weeks and have only just started to feel baby move strongly and often. I have an anterior placenta too and it seemed to absorb alot of feeling. I could often see my babe move but couldn't feel a thing. I was monitored a few weeks ago and the machine picked up movements I had no clue about.

Saying this, please don't use the position of the placenta to be an 'excuse' as to why you don't feel much, if in doubt or worried always get checked out!

I definitely don't care about bothering them or not....they're my drs and I pay so much $$$ for my private insurance I call whenever I feel like it. LOL

I'm more just frustrated because her movements are not "regular" and I spend most days in a state of worry rather than knowing what to expect. I can sometimes see movements on my belly that I don't really feel, and when I was being monitored she was going nuts and I hardly felt anything.

I just want to avoid being in there all the time if I can help it.....but I'd rather know she's ok and be reassured....at least for a day!

Damn my anterior placenta!

I have an anterior placenta and have always thought that my girl is not very active, but I'm realizing more and more than she is moving- I'm just not feeling it or recognizing it. If I watch my stomach for a while, I'll see it move but not even feel it.

All that being said, I still don't think she's nearly as active as some other babies. Unless it's one of her peak hours, I really doubt that she moves the standard 10-12 times per hour.

Oh, also! There were a few weeks early in the 3rd trimester where she moved less than she had been. This is just a guess, but I wonder if part of it was because the placenta was growing at a faster rate than she was, thereby cushioning her movements even more?

Ive just started to feel baby move "constantly" or more accurately, consistently, in the past week or so. Ive also started to feel the baby MUCH higher up, but very rarely in the middle of my tummy where my placenta is.

I also have a anterior placenta and only have started last week to get really strong movements and regularly I was also concerned about it I would stop serval times a day to make sure I felt movements. So hopefully these strong movements come soon for u

My placenta isn't anterior. But as a special 28 week gift, Bumpy decided not to move much at all. I got on here and wrote my post asking for advice and I also called a midwife.
Basic jist is if you're really worried, or if you have unusual pain of any type: call your doctor straight away.
Otherwise if you feel at least 10 movements a day everything should be fine. They also said try drinking some cold water/juice and lying on your side listening to music. If you don't feel several movements within the next few hours(as the cold water/juice and/or music is suppose to provoke movement) then also go see your doctor.

The midwife also said that the baby is going through a lot of growth and so it will like to sleep a lot during this time. She also added "you try kicking as hard as you can 10 times every two hours and see how you feel afterwards. You'd be very tired. So you can't expect your baby to want to do that"

It's totally petrifying! Luckily I had some strong ones today and I am starting to feel them in different areas like at my sides and higher up and I think I recognize them better......I just hope my baby gets a lot more active and I don't end up on the monitor all the time!

Yeah it is quite scary when they have their quiet spells. At least you got your little monitor thing that can help :hugs:

My mum keeps telling me to stop worrying and enjoy myself, she says that's what she did with me and my little sister and we both turned out fine.

I know! it's the hardest advice to follow though. Last week when I had to go to the hospital they had told me to drink juice and lay down on left side and I didn't even feel her during that.....it was crazy. Then once hooked up she was flapping around like crazy

:hugs: she sounds like she's already quite cheeky.

Random question: before you fell pregnant did you sleep on your stomach?

Not to hi-jack your thread, but I've noticed since falling pregnant I prefer to be half on my stomach lol

Me too! I sometimes use a pillow underneath. With the heartburn I can hardly sleep at all
