Ok. As most of u know, I will be having a pill to control the blood thickness I might be having.

I was wondering today... sorry TMI... When we see in our period lots of blood clots, that is a sign of the blood thick syndrome?? Does this also help create heart attacks? I am scared

hi suzan i get lots of clots with af and i am seeing a gynae for the first time tomorrow so i will ask when im there and i will let you know! I doubt its linked to heart attacks though.

Thanks Carolina.
I will see my doc tomorrow as well.. Could u ask him and we can compare their answers!

Hi Suzan,

Like I PMed you, my sister was diagnosed with sticky blood syndrome (same as thick blood syndrome I would think) after getting a six inch blood clot in her arm. This was a few years ago now. The only real worry I think is to watch out for blood clots if you are travelling long distances - my sister had to have an injection of hepatarin (sp??) when she flew to Japan from UK last year. Also, if she ever ttc she will have to take something like baby asprin as it can cause miscarriages later on down the line in pregnancy. However, the syndrome is easily treatable once diagnosed. I am not sure about heart attacks and stuff - possibly phone up GP about that question.

Have you actually been diagnosed with this syndrome?

I hope the doctor visits go good for you ladies. I remember getting a lot of clots when I was on bcp. The gyn told me that it was normal since you are building up more tissue and such as your body thinks that it is preg. It freaked me out. Now that I am not on bcp I don't have the clots anymore, sometimes I go get them though but not as bad as before....Best of luck and lots of :hugs:

No. But think about it though.. when my doctor told me I will take it it's when I started thinking about this issue. Also, having my first miscarriage due to the heartbeat stopping was an issue of concern and when my old doc explained to why it happened he kindda brought up the issue of "the cord from where the baby intakes all food was blocked"

I dont really know, till now, what he meant.. I just ignored bec I wanted to erase it.

If you think you have thicker blood speak to you GP or consultant hun and ask about baby asperin also they can do a test ... after that there is injections to help whist TTC or when you get a positive (I was on fragmin - OH had to inject me .)

Right, I have a condition which causes "sticky" blood and other than in pregnancy it causes me no other health problems but I'm not supposed to use BCP as a contraceptive as they increase your risk of blood clots.
-I will post in greater detail for you later, but Im about to nip out and catch the post office as its only open an hour a day.

To be continued!..............

hi suzan i aked the gynae today if my heavy periods/clots etc should i be worried about blood clots and he said no but it could be different for you as your situation is different to mine! Let me know what the doctor says!
