About to give up!! :(

Yes tried a dummy, sometimes it does work other times it doesnt...
Looking on lcgb website for lactation consultant..
Voluntary obv means thy wont charge right

My lactation consultant said that fist sucking doesn't always mean hungry - it can be wind. Three week mark is tough though. One reason I don't want another while I have a toddler!

Yes lo is coming with me to the wedding.

Who can i contact to check latch? I have the number of breastfeeding support worker that visited before i was discharged from midwives, surely i can call her?

Also i hear wat ur saying about sleeping beter after ff bcoz of 'full' feeling but unless i do that she cries the min shes off the breast.. I mean i cant wven go toilet without her crying... Surely thats not right no matter how frequently she should feed??

Angelica are you saying that unless she is latched on 24/7 that she is crying? Do you wind her after a feed? Is she spitting up any? How painful are the nipples? If she's having a milk transfer issue then that would explain a LOT of what's happening. A baby will easily want to be on the breast 20 hours a day. Which is why slings are a growing trend while BF rates are slowly creeping up. It allows baby to stay close to Mama which often is just what they want, and often a baby is satisfied with being in a sling on Mamas chest, listening to her heartbeat and only signaling for food because the "comfort" need is being met by being close to Mama.

If you are at the wedding and baby is with you, I'd probably suggest just feeding on demand?

Yes if shes not latched on she'll cry which is why i resort to formula ( do try exoressing but usually struggle to get more than 3oz!!

Is she bringing up lots of wind? Both mine were super gassy babies.

She does have alot of wind but mainly wen she has formula...
She does let out alot of wind through back end tho!! Lol

It sounds to me like it could be a milk transfer issue. A Lactation Consultant would be your best bet to get her seen by if you wish to continue breastfeeding. A baby should not need to be latched every moment of the day and that would lead me to believe that she is struggling to get milk from the breast possible due to mouth restrictions.

Whatever you decide please make sure its an informed decision and make yourself aware of the risks of formula feeding as opposed to the benefits of breastfeeding. It is every mothers right to decide how she feeds her baby, and its very important she makes an informed decision for herself and her baby.

I had a fussy one, he had a lot of digestive problems. He nursed frequently I think mainly because he could only easily digest small amounts at a time, and he spit up a lot. Try giving her some simethicone (gas) drops. The box says to just give a little tiny amount, but it isn't absorbed by the body so you can actually give a whole dropper full. It helps a lot. As well as lying her on her back and pushing her knees to her chest. Ultimately, although I hate pacifiers, I had to give him one because the sucking gave him so much relief. He only like the Nuk brand, you may have to try a couple of different ones to find a shape she will like. And watch your diet. Things high in fiber, caffeine, spicy food, and diary products can all transfer into the breast milk and are hard for baby to digest.

My nipples always hurt a lot when I have to pump, I would only pump when you ABSOLUTELY have to! I pumped frequently right before I went back to work to build up a stash and then once a night at work, when LO would have been nursing before bed. Now that he's almost a year he just drinks almond milk before bed when I'm working and i quit pumping altogether, I hated it!

I think u ladies are correct about it being a lactation issue.
Spoke to a la leche leader today & shes going to call me bak but her initial thoughts are that too!
Is this something thats easily corrected bcoz i really do want to carry on??

No Bellarosa, due to my c sec i havent been anywhere
But will go to a b/f clinic on mon now

If its a mouth tie you will need to see a specialist who can snip/lazer it depending on what you decide to do. It can take 2 weeks before feeding will become more efficient.

I depends - we had latch issues. LO would tire herself out trying to feed and then wake as soon as I tried to put her down because she was still hungry. She wasn't starving, she got enough to make wet and dirty nappies, but it wasn't easy for her and v.painful for me. It took till 10 weeks to get a pain free latch but we got there (she grew in to it).

At three weeks though there is a growth spurt, they start to get colicky, they are more aware of surroundings and less knocked out by feeds etc. so it may be a combination of things.

LLL are great.

Lll didnt call bak but im hoping to go to a b/f clinic on mon to get latch checkd out
