About washing diaper covers and prefolds

I plan to go the cloth diaper route with covers and prefolds and I keep reading different directions on how to wash such diapers, but I want advice from experience.

How do you launder your covers and prefolds? Both on hot? Do you wash them separate or together? What is your favorite detergent and do you use any pre-wash sprays?

I wash all of my diapers together, we have a mix of pretty much every kind type there is including covers and prefolds. I wash do a cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse and then 2 cycles on low heat in the dryer. The only time I wash them separate is when I'm prepping the prefolds but once they are prepped they get washed all together. We use Tide original powder for detergent. We've tried tons of brands and this seems to work best, no build up, no smells, love it.

I wash my diapers and inserts together. I use AI2s, so covers & inserts.

I wash a full cycle on cold with no detergent, then a full cycle with extra rinse on hot with 1/4 the recommended detergent. This is the method recommended by my diaper manufacturers (Softbums).

I hang dry my covers and dry my inserts in the dryer on low.
