I was wondering if anyone else is going through or has had ICSI with absent Af's?

I have PCOS with absent Af's (last natural September, January via tablets for HSG) and my DH has a low count. I've been reading post about the ICSI process but have not been able to find anyone who has had absent Af's. I'm starting to get really anxious and worried about it as everyone seems to start ICSI process after they have had there AF yet I'm not having AF's :cry:

I would really appreciate your comments our ICSI appointment is on the 21st April and I'm really working myself up now

Wow your appointment for ICIS has come really quick. We got referred in December and still waiting on an appointment as no funding as of yet :( are you NHS?

I too have pcos however i do have periods they do come when they want tho.. Have you tried some diet changes etc to help with the pcos? (i dont want to sound rude) as you may be really healthy its just i bought the diet pcos book and found it really useful it tells you want foods to avoid etc it may be worth a go while waiting on your appointment.

As far as they ICIS treatment i read that they tell ladies to start on BC I think sometimes and wait for a period to start treatment if needs be so i wouldnt worry there are plenty of things they can kick start your AF to move treatment forward..

xx

Yeah we are on the NHS. Our first appointment was in December which followed with lots of tests HSG, Ultra sound, bloods, DH swimmers. They confirmed I had PCOS which I was diagnosed with at 15 and DH had a low count. Because of DH low count they referred us to the assisted unit for ICSI which on the 21st April. We've been told we've had the necessary test and they should start straight away. We had a form posted out which we have to fill in and we have to take photo ID on the 21st. I've started trying to cut out potatoes and bread which is really hard. I'm 9st 8lb so could do with loosing a few pounds.

I just don't have a clue how long the process is with me having no AF's. To be honest I don't know how long the process is with AF's.

I suppose its just a NHS process huni all takes time!!
I have had all my tests done months ago, referred for ICIS in december and still waiting on my PCT and funding issues, hospital wont do any more blood tests for the ICIS until PCT send some money over!! CRAP isnt it!!

I think you done pretty well getting seen so quick huni, i had my HSG done last September etc and still no further on.. My oh has low sperm too, isnt too bad but lower than the average on what they require..

Well you have a nice weight by the sounds of things hun so i dont think you need to worry about your diet.. x

I'm abit worried now then that this appointment might just be to fill in forms etc and not actually get the ball rolling. Especially as you've been waiting so long. I've not been told about funding or anything like that I was just told I was being sent to the assisted unit to get started as we've had all the relevant tests. Where do you live?

Hi, I just started ICSI yesterday. I also have PCOS and hubby has low count.
I don't have proper periods sometimes its just brown spotting. This happened this cycle and I freaked out, but my FS just made me have a blood test - LH, FSH, Progesterone - and he said all my levels are fine to start injections.
He said it didn't matter if I bleed more or less than the spotting I was having, because my hormones levels were correct. Hope this helps. Any more questions, just ask xx

Thank Sabine.

I'm just wondering if they will give me something to bring AF on before injections etc

How long did you have to wait before you got the go ahead with ICSI?

I'm just worried now that it's still going to be a waiting game like Beauty in her post.

I don't have absent periods, but my periods can be quite unpredictable, so in order to make sure I have a bleed during my down-reg, I was put on Provera tablets.

I think they would do the same for you too, if you mention that you don't bleed that frequently.

All the best with your cycle! :hugs:

I live in Manchester it depends on certain areas etc on how funding is worked out etc, i have no idea what your appointment with do as i havent been seen yet, but i know to get referred i had to fill in a form to say i had been ttc for longer than 2 years and that we had never gotten pregnant etc and then i heard from my hospital stating that my PCT werent funding and bascially i would have to wait..

We have had all the tests done, only thing hospital will have to do is the normal tests i.e again cause they repeat them like the day2 tests and sperm test and HIV test etc.. but other than that we are ready to go however were waiting on funding from pct. Like i said your PCT may be different and your waiting list may be short

No idea if your area is the same huni, i mean you might get seen alot quicker than my case x
