Hello!

This is my first real post on here after lurking around for some time. I don't really know where to start! Just thought I'd introduce myself and tell my story as I don't really have many people around me to discuss it with.

I'm 25, me and my husband (sorry I don't know all the abbreviations yet!) have been actively trying (ovulation kits, tracking etc) for just over a year but haven't been using any precautions for a total of three. We were recently married and I thought it's best I get myself checked out as three years seemed like a long time.

Anyway whilst doing all the routine checks they found out I had been given a not so pleasant gift. My first instinct was to throttle my husband but I've seen numerous doctors on numerous occasions for pelvic pain in the past three or so years and nothing has ever been done. I had an internal examiniation and an sti test over a year ago (no one had cheated, I'd just never had one and wanted to rule things out) and it was found that I had bad inflamation of the womb but the test itself came back negative?! I've spoken to the doctor in the gum clinic recently and she advised me that it's likely I've had pid for a while and it's also likely i got a false result on the first sti test as the main cause of inflamation is pid - the main cause of this is chlamydia. I'm actually quite angry that this didn't occur to the first doctor!

Anyway I was treated for the unnecessary gift and referred to the infertility clinic. I had my first appointment on Friday and I'm now being sent for a laparoscopy but I have no idea how long the waiting list is where I am. I'm just a little worried as I have no time span on how long I've had the pid, and I've read that the longer it sits in your body the more damage it can do.

I've also never had a general annesthetic so this worries me a bit!

Ok long rambly essay over, thanks for reading - and hello!

Sorry for you're recent discovery :( I found out after a miscarrige and ttc with my husband for around 18 I have a tiled uterus. It doesn't do harm like you'res can but It makes it take longer to concieve and is frustrating. Hope all goes well and everything works outfit you

Hello. I had chlamidea! I was actively trying for 2.5 years. We were due to get married in July so stopped trying...I was 9 months pregnant at our wedding! Big shock as I still knew when my fertile days were... And we didn't DTD on them days! My point is, don't give in, as hard as it is, try not to stress about it (believe me I know it's not as easy as that!)

Thanks guys, it's just so frustrating when this hasn't happened to anyone in my family or anyone I know. Glad I registered for this forum

Hi and welcome, sorry I can't be of much use except to say that a general anaesthetic is a doddle. You get sleepy in a few seconds and then wake up in recovery.

Good luck!

Thanks lovecakes, you've actually put my mind at ease a bit. Can't believe I'm worrying already and I don't even have a date for it yet! I'm assuming the waiting list is going to be ridiculously long.
