hi everyone :hi: hope no one minds me posting here :)

I've been referred to assisted conception at the royal infirmary in glasgow and I finally got my appointment through but I'm a bit confused really as to what to expect from the appointment because when I got the letter it has a leaflet with it giving information on the treatments and it only says IUI, IVF, etc. I haven't even been given clomid yet, I just feel a bit like no one has even spoken to me since I was diagnosed with PCOS in february and I don't have a clue what's going on :(

what happens at the first appointment? I'm terrified of getting my hopes up for this appointment for them to tell me that there's nothing they can do for me :( this has happened once before when I was referred to a gynaecologist through error, it was a really awful experience and I'm fearing a repeat :(

sorry for the essay.

Hi, I am in Glasgow. I am attending gynacology for irregular bleeding but last letter mentioned something about future referral to ACU so also interested in others experiences. Good luck hun. When is your appointment?

it's on july 11th :) are you at the royal? :)

Haven't been referred yet as need to have some further testing but just curious as that might be next step. Good luck and hope someone is able to give u some advice x

Hi, I've also been referred to the royal for ivf, should reach top of the list by December but doing a private cycle at the gcrm inbetween.

I've only had the intial appointment and they basically go through your history and the usual medical questions and will then discuss treatment and advise you of waiting times, they will also arrange SA for your other half if necessary. All in all we were in and out in 15 mins.

I was referred to the royal following my amh test at monklands being low however I did get to do iui at monklands (1 complete cycle, 2 cancelled) whilst I've been on list at royal

Hope this helps :)

thanks :) we're doing the SA on 15th june so we'll get the results at the appointment :)

I don't really understand why ive just been referred for IVF straight away though

Hey, I can't offer any advice but didn't want to r&r, your charting is looking good:thumbup: good luck at your appt, hopefully you won't need it!:flower:

thanks lou :hugs: my chart is pretty much identical to last cycle though so I'm pretty sure that AF will be here really soon, I've started spotting :( this was only the second cycle I have ovulated in over a year, how depressing :haha:

good luck with the soy, how much are you taking? that's what made me ovulate twice :)

Thanks, I finished it two days ago, I started late on CD8 and started with 100mg, 150mg, 200mg, 200mg and then 200mg on the last day. CD14 and my opks are almost pos so I think it's working, feeling relieved. :D

Sorry you started spotting, there's still the rest of the year to go though.:winkwink: Hoping the sunny weather lasts, natural light is good for fertility so trying to get of much of it as I can!:haha:

I work in an office so not much natural light for me :(

I took 200mg CD2-6 and ovulated CD19 last cycle and CD18 this one, I'll do the same dose again but I'm a bit nervous that I'll O on CD17 because we have the SA on the 15th of june which is right before :(

hope your OPK turns positive really soon :hugs: :dust:

Hi There,

I am in a similar situation to the OP - except I do not have any diagnosis.

I have been attending the GP intermittently for the past 18 months since coming off the pill. In this time, my periods have never returned. After 12 months the GP referred me to the Assisted Conception Clinic at the Royal Infirmary. I was somewhat surprised as my DH and I are not actively trying to conceive at the moment (although we will be in the next year or so).

I really wanted to ask people on here opinions as this is all very new to me. As my primary concern at the moment is to identify and address whatever issue is causing the amennorhea, should I really be seeing a gynaecologist? Or will whatever investigations/ tests they carry out at RI help to identify what the problem might be? Can anyone tell me what tests they are likely to do?

I was much the same as the OP when I received the initial appointment letter today - there was alot of info on IVF etc and I feel like we have jumped a few steps!

I hope someone can give me some advice/ guidance.

Thanks in advance!

Hi just wondering if any of you ladies can give me any idea on how long you waited. Following lap and dye a few weeks ago, my gynaecologist referred us to acu. Just wondering if we will receive an initial consultation quickly

Hi there have been referred to assisted conception unit at royal now too. First appt is in nov. Can anyone let me know what happens at this appointment. So far my hubby has had sperm samples done and I have had lap&dye, 21 day bloods, hysteroscopy and pelvis ultrasound.

Hiya, as per my previous post its basically just another run through of your TTC history and they then tell you the waiting list and when you should expect another letter (not until you are at the top of the waiting list). When i went it was 1 year for Lanarkshire and 2 years for Glasgow but this could have changed as that was Decemeber last year. Your hubby will have to hand in another sample as they like to recheck the results themselves.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks.. Think it's still about 2 years from Glasgow. The appointment letter is addresses to me and doesn't mention my partner. Did your partner provide a sample at the appointment or did he arrange it after.
