I spoke to my Mum tonight who is really supportive about our lack of conception and is wary about telling me about 'old wives tales' re getting pregnant (I assured her I would try anything, old wives tale or not). Anyway, a friend of hers was telling her at the weekend, after Mum had told her we'd been trying for a couple of years, that a friend of hers had been ttc for years. She was recommended to try acupuncture, which she did and 2 months later she conceived, after never having even a faint :bfp:.

I had a look on the internet and found this article:

I know I'm absolutely going to try it and thought some of you might be interested too.

Thanks Smurfette - interesting read - I have fancied acupuncture or reflexology for a few months now - might be time (after 2 1/2 loooong years ttc) to give it a go!

Hi I too heard how good it is (plus zita west is a be fan), my dh and I are both having our first session this afternoon, then both going weekly! Ill let you know how it goes if you want - very nervous at the moment about it!

Ooh yeah, let us know how it goes. I've been ringing around a few places this morning trying to get the ball rolling. Good luck with it!!!!!!!!!

I started it last cycle and like it so far. My acupuncturist uses different points throughout the cycle and she's very knowledgeable about fertility. I was terrified at first, but it wasn't bad actually. I felt a few points, but it was barely noticeable and not painful. Good luck. Hope it works! xx

i had accpuncture after being told id not be able to get pregnant and having cycts on my ovaries and i fell pregnant the next month! ive heard lots of succes stories! xx

I'd recommend getting one who specialises in fertility. And it doesn't hurt at all!!

ive heard lots of stories on this but now we are starting iui the clinic have told us they would prefer it if we didnt have accupunture or reflexology whilst having the treatment

Well I had my first treatment yesterday, and I wassoooo nervous when I went but it went really well.

The lady first spent about 40 minutes asking me loads of question on health, background, periods, family health, treatment etc, then she took a good look at my tonge and my pulse. Then it was time for the treatment, I have 12 needles and amazingly none of them hurt, I felt 1 go in to my lower back which gave me 2 seconds of discomfort but certainly not pain. Once they were all in she left me for 20 minutes (I swear I could of gone to sleep then), she came back checked my pulse again and took the needles out.

I'm booked to go back next Thursday.

I've fallen asleep a few times. It is definitely relaxing!

are there any acupunture specialists in manchester uk does anyone know and roughly how much does it cost per session and how many sessions do you need?
thanks.

Have a look here:

https://www.acupuncture.org.uk/

I have just emailed lady who is about 17miles away but she is approved by Zita West. So I'll let you know how it goes. THe only thing is I'm not really good with things that are relaxing. For instance I would have the scrub facial rather than the relaxing oils one. Do you think it would still work for me/is it more than just about relaxing?

Tansey, it isn't only about relaxation. They have fertility points that help calm or increase blood flow to the uterus, stimulate ovulation, thicken your lining, etc. The points are different depending on when you go in your cycle. xx

Also very keen to know how much this costs, and how many times a month you go?

I am in the US and it is $45 a session (about an hour or so). I have been trying to go every week, but it doesn't always work with my schedule so it's more like every week and a half. You don't have to go that often, but it helps to do it more frequently.
