Anyone had chickenpox when their adult? I had chickenpox when I was roughly 4years old so I have had them before. Monday I came out in a rash all over my back, side, bit on my tummy, arms and tops of legs(I actually had a rash on tops of my legs few days before), went to the walk in clinic on tuesday and the nurse said its chickenpox... Now it doesn't look like chickenpox to me cos their not blisters, do chickpox always blister? Some look like dry patches.. My LO had to miss out on halloween party yesterday as didn't wanna infect the other little ones, but now I'm home I really don't think they look like chickenpox.. Unless they can look diff when u get them 2nd time and as an adult?

I'm sure I've heard chickenpox is different when your older and can be more dangerous? :flower:

I've heard that chickenpox is much worse as an adult, I know my dad was very ill with it. So if you feel ol just got the rash and feel ok then I would think its not CP.

Im not a dr though :flower:

It is much worse when u adult.my uncle had it when he was about 36 and almost died.

Was it the 1st time they had it though? This is my 2nd time so thats probs why its not as bad.

I didn't know you could get it twice, but quick google says you can..hmm I thought CP was blisters though. Hope you feel ok OP xx

I had chicken pox twice as a child. If you had a mild case the first time you can get them again.

I didn't have them mild.. I had them at 3 or 4 and had them in every place u can think of... Its so weird that I've got them again.. My mum said some of them do have a lil blister on them.. I can't see properly as the worse is on my back!

I had chicken pox at about 3/4 years and then again at 17 when I was working with Children. It wasn't too bad 2nd time around.

I was 3/4 1st time and now 21 so sounds abit like me... Did some of yours look like dry patches? xx

It's usually Shingles when a person has already had chickenpox. When you get chickenpox the virus stay dormant in nervous system, usually if you come in contact with someone with it then it can be contagious.

I had a mild case when I was a kid and my mother was somehow under the impression that I got the vaccine. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that the vaccine wasn't out until the year after I got the chickenpox and that the Dr actually told my dad I could get it again in the future. I had been TTC for over a year at that point (last November) so I'm actually thankful I wasn't pregnant. I actually still have scars in a few places from it. It definitely wasn't the most pleasant thing in the world but was manageable. I was very ill from it with bad flu like symptoms though. My spots didn't all look like blisters right away. At first they looked like I was getting acne then they blistered. My DH also had it as an adult and he survived it just fine. The main issue with getting it as an adult is it tends to be more severe than in children and complications are higher. Hopefully that isn't what you had/have.

I have never had chicken pox and im terrifed of getting it :( my mum had it when she was an adult and was really bad, there wasnt a space on her body to put a 1p piece she even had them in her mouth :( xx
