Hi, my LO has her first injections booked for tomorow. I am worried about them since I have come down with a cold with a bad sore throat. LO isnt showing any signs of cold but I only came down with it yesterday, I am worried if she has injections she could either have bad reaction since she already has cold but is not yet showing signs or whether the injections will make her more suseptable to catching bugs. I was wondering if anyone has any advice. I have left a msg on HVs phone but not sure if she will get back to me in time. I dont want to chance making LO sick and am really hoping I dont give her this cold. I am not sure whether I should just call doctors and rebook appointment. Just hoping someone on here might have some advice

The only thing I was told to cancel for was a high temperature, however my Nurse at LOs third injections said they aren't even saying that anymore.

If you aren't comfortable with it then you can rebook but if she hasn't got symptoms yet she may not get any for 3-5 days, then have the cold for 3-5 days so you'd have to re-book for about 10 days time and if she doesn't end up getting your cold you will have waited for nothing and she might catch another one in 10days, you never know!

my LO had a cold about every two weeks around that time but was never very distressed by it, I complained more! are you breastfeeding? Because if so you will give her your antibodies to the cold so she'll be more protected against it.

Yes I am breastfeeding. I think Im being a bit neurotic :dohh: I defenetly want her to have the injections but doctor gave us no advice on whether if she was exposed to a cold or anything whether LO could still have injection. Im hoping she doesent catch it. Thanks so much for the advice, I feel better about taking her tomorow now :flower:

when Ellie had her 1st lot of injections she had tonsillitis!! and she was absolutely fine infact cause she was in special care when she had the 1st lot she never even cried lol she was so used to getting canulas etc xx

Hey, I think you should wait until your LO is completely better. Don't give if she is ill in the slightest as I have read negative reactions are more likely. But, just to put this advice into perspective, these are from writers who are either dont agree with vaccination or who suggest an alternative schedule due to reactions it may cause.

Please don't take this post in negative way, I'm not trying to change your mind on vaccinations or anything, just posting what I have read whilst I doing my own research for LO.

Good Luck

Hi, thanks for all the advice. Just spoke to HV and she said to just check with doctor tomorow. LO is showing no signs of cold and HV thought it would be worse to wait in case she got ill with what we are vaccinating against. I understand why some people dont have injections but from my own experiences with working with children I have decided to have them. I think its a personal choice but for me my LO will be having all her vaccinations. Have got calpol if she gets a temperature and will only get injections on doctors say so. Thankyou everyone for advice
