This is driving me crazy, Luke has figured out how to get his arms out of his car seat straps. We tighten them to the maximum but he still manages to wriggle enough to free one, then the other comes out easy. We have a recaro young sport in one car and a maxi cosi pearl in the other and he does it in both. We end up having to keep pulling over on every journey and it's so dangerous. Am I being really dumb and missing something?! Like I said, the straps are adjusted to as tight as they can go. He is very tall, same height as a 2 1/2 year old. Has anyone else found this problem? X

Is the part that clips on his chest up high enough? That shouldn't be happening, sounds strange.

We have similar issue sometimes with our britax prince

you can buy chest clips (similar to the kind that you'll find on american and canadian seats) but they arent recommended in this county, as the law states any child restraint shoud be able to be unfastened with one hand in the event of an accident, i'll find a link for the chest clips though- cos in some cases its def more important that they're used i guess? x

Thank you for the link, I had seen these earlier whilst googling but every link I found was either broken or US. Fantastic solution to my problem, about to order now. Thank you! X

Thanks Hun! So far we've managed a telling off and she doesn't manage so much at the mi, but it does happen now and again

We had this problem for a few weeks but thankfully he doesn't do it anymore as he understands the word dangerous now, was very stressful at the time and I didn't know you could get clips so thats good for you that you can :)

Paige does this too, in any car seat we put her in!! let me know if the chest clip works!

I'm so confused. Do you guys not have the clip that goes over the chest as well as the button at the waist?

No sweetie we dont- the european legislation for car seats states that all car seats in the eu should be relesable by one red release button, so that they can be undone by one hand in the event of an accident. X

I had no idea that you guys have different car seats. I just googled Canada car seats and seen what you mean about the chest clip, this is exactly what we need but don't have. Another difference between our laws I guess. I wish I could explain how dangerous it is, but at 14 months Luke doesn't understand yet. It's kind of a situation where stuck both ways with what's worse, go against legislation and have 2 things to release in a accident or flying forward into the front seat. Know which one i would rather!

The only thing that stopped my LO doing this was a thick winter coat. As soon as winter hit and he started wearing his big duffel-type coat, he couldn't get his arms out - problem solved!

Wow! I had no idea!! When I read the first post I was so confused as to how kids could get their arms through!! It makes total sense now though. It's interesting the difference in the two laws, hey?

I couldn't imagine not having the chest clip.

sweetie thick coats arent recomended in car seats- the material can compress in an accident and the straps would then be much too loose, you'll see what i mean if you pop your little guy in his seat with his coat on, and tighten it accordingly, and then remove the coat and pop him back in- they'll be much too loose x

Phoebe does the same, although its very rare now.

This is supposed to be very good.

I think the ladies in the UK have different straps than us here in Canada...where there is no hope in hell to wiggle lose!
