Hi ladies,
I'm currently nearly 34 weeks pregnant, I must say this pregnancy has not been smooth sailing, I'm under consultant care due to high BMI, PCOS but also ive now got GD & OC/ICP and there all tablet controlled but quiet high dose, ive been having frequent growth scans since diabetes and baby is growing big especially his head measurememts & tummy measurememts which are 90th centile and tummy is measuring 38 weeks, I had my last scan at 33 weeks and his tummy was still measuring over the highest line, so I spoke to my consultant and he said it's totally my choice either to have planned c section or natural birth? Even tho he gave me both these options I felt he was directing me towards c section. As I had the same with my DS1 with his growing and I was induced at 38 weeks 17 bourse labour no success with further dilation so ended in emergency c section due to baby being distressed... So he said this...
1 - natural birth which would be by induction as I have OC and GD and they won't let me go past 38 weeks, which could end in another emergency c section, and I have a higher chance of eruption of my scar, due to his growth...
2 - a planed c section 37-38 weeks depending on when might need 2 shots of steroids before op, and obv ive got a chance of womb infection (again) was in hospital 7 days last time due to bad infection...
I would really like natural labour to experience it as I never got that far last time, but due to health issues he made it sound as tho c section was more appropriate in my case, which ever I choice I have to decide by 35 weeks as we need to set a date and time of induction or c section, has anyone experience this before? I just want to get other mums opinions and advice before I make the decision. Thanks for reading, consultant said he will be here between 6th - 13th August 37-38 weeks depending on next growth scan but I ain't due till 27th August xx
