Hi

I recently posted over in the first tri forum as I had been for my 12 week scan and discovered there was no heartbeat. I didn't have the best treatment from the hospital and came home where I've naturally started to miscarry.

I know this might be tmi but I'm hoping someone can reassure me that is is normal and maybe put my mind at rest.

I started with contractions early Monday morning (2am) and evantually stopped about 4:30am once I had passed some large blood clots. The bleeding continued and evantually the pains returned at 4pm on Tuesday (whilst I was at work) I continued to bleed quite heavily until I got home and passed what I think was the sac.

Since then there have been no more pains but I have continued to bleed it isn't heavy but just wondered when I should expect it to lessen and hopefully stop.

I didn't realise that the advice number I was given was 24hrs as I was informed they were only open 8am - 8pm. I know it was quite niave of me to not get in contact with the hospital anyway when I started with contractions but I assumed it was normal and that they would have just sent me home with painkillers.

I have my date to return for the two week benefit of the doubt scan so will I be ok to wait until then and let them know what has happened since my ultrasound ??

Thank you to anyone who can give me some advice, nothing was explained to me before I left at the hospital and I think I and OH may have gone through it alone unneccesarily.

xx

Hi Lauren,

Sorry to hear about your loss

i had a DnC with my MMC last July and it was the worst decision ever, due to the bleeding afterward so when I MC in January it was natural, I was only about 7 weeks with a blighted ovum. My bleed started as a show on the friday, saturday I passed a massive clot, sunday I passed the sac along with another large clot then my bleeding was light. They told me int he hospital my blood had congealed hence the large clots.

Every MC is different, if you are bleeding lighter now then it should start to ease off, it's nothing like a period so it can go as quick as it comes.

im so sorry xxxx i have has 2 m/c and my last one was a mmc, its hard, but where all here for you always xxxxxxxxxx

Thanks ladies I know most people experience the pain of a m/c at some point in their lives and it is reassuring to know that when I have doubts and concerns there is a place I can go which is filled with love and support by women who know exactly how I'm feeling and just what to say.

Like MrsJD said, each miscarriage is different. If the bleeding is tapering off, I would think that it is almost over. In terms of waiting for the ultrasound, I would probably ask that they scan me earlier. My doctor had mentioned that if there is any leftover tissue, it can sometimes cause an infection to occur. The second ultrasound will tell them whether you've passed everything and what the next step will be. Plus, seeing the doctor would also help to put your mind at ease about any questions you may have.

I felt exactly he same way when I had my mc. I totally wasn't prepared for the sheer amount of blood and clots that I passed or the pain that I was in and felt that the hospital should have told me more about what to expect. I think I bled for around a week in total but only two days were really heavy with clots.

I had my ultrasound a week after I started bleeding but I don't know if that's the norm. When you go make sure you have drunk loads of water. I hadn't and had to go drink more and wait longer which was heartbreaking as couples kept coming out with their healthy scans and we were sat there waiting to see if my womb had gone back to normal.

Also - be sure to restore your body with iron.. I know that when I was bleeding so heavy.. for a few days after I had horrible headaches.. my miscarriage had to be induced.. because I didnt want to ahve a d&c.

I started getting contractions around 1am.. my water broke around 5:30am.. passed a VERY large sized clot around 11am.. then felt better.. but then two days later.. i guess my body did it naturally.. and i started cramping again.. and bleeding again.. finally three days after it all started i passed the sac.. it was terrible!

Please tell your dr if you need something stronger for the pain.. I wish I had.. it as awful!!!
