My DD is 12 weeks old and from 6 weeks she developed a rash on her face, at first the GP said it was baby acne and after several visits he perscribed some hydrocortisone cream but she still has regular flare ups.
I am due to take her to see the dermatolgist in a few weeks but have decided to change her formula thinking that may be the problem. She was on SMA gold and I found that apart from the rash she was constantly being sick, and every nappy has been loose. She has been on Aptimal for 2 days now and she still has very loose stools but now rather than bringing up milk she is now bringing up watery sick after every feed, now im stuck on what to do, do i keep with Aptimal for a few more days or change to another formula?
Any advice would be appreciated.

i would give the aptamil a bit more time tbh, coz if you switch again so soon it might just cause irritation

Yeah i agree. Stay with the Aptamil! It is most like breast milk and the nappies are not far off what breast fed babies nappies are like, which are very loose. And the sickyness could be a bit of wind getting trapped below some milk so its just bringing it up with the air bubble?? give it a bit more time.

Hi hun as said stick with the aptamil, as regards the rash my lo also has dry spotty skin on the face like a rash, i apply an cream prescribed by the gp, he has perfect skin every where else?! i find after feeding wiping around his face with cotton wool and water where there has been contact with milk, although it could be caused by drinking the milk aswell. I wouldnt jump formulas to much as it might upset your Lo even more, persist for now with aptamil, apply creams given and use nothing but water to wash your lo's face as even baby products could irritate the rash, let us know how you get on xxx

I had exactly the same thing, rash on face and pretty sick after feeds, also explosive nappies and terrible wind (all on Aptamil Comfort as he had colic). I was allergic to dairy as a child so asked for advice on dairy free milks, GP was useless and said persevere for a few mmore weeks and see what happens (ridiculous would you tell someone with a peanut allergy to keep eating them for a few more weeks!!). Anyway, decided to try him on Soya milk, and wow what a difference. Rash gone after 2 days, no more explosions and wind is much better, he also enjoys taking his bottle now rather than fussing and pulling off every ounce or so.
Not saying I would choose soya milk for a baby in the first instance, but it is working for us...

Thanks Doolittle,

I did think of changing to Soya Formula as many of my friends have said to try it as their children has similar symptoms, but I decided to try Aptimal for a few weeks to see how she gets on, so far we are on day 4 and although the sick part has stopped she is now bringing up watery sick (if that makes sense lol!!) Rash is now mainly on her forehead which she is constantly scratching, i have been using aqueous cream and it seems to calm ot down however a couple of hrs later im re-applying. Have my appointment with the dermatolgist in April so would be interesting to see what they can recommend.
If I was to change to Soya would I have to be careful when she starts solids?
