my daughter is just over 5weeks and i'm breastfeeding but i'm finding it really hard, all she wants to do is feed, yesterday from 3:30 in the afternoon to 10 at night all she wanted to do was feed, and latch on, as soon as i put her down she crys, i'm finding it very tiring, health visitor was not very helpfull, she told me she's not feeding just wants the comfort and to only give her 10mins each side, cant do that, she would scream the house down, she's breast 99% of the time and only very occasionally a bottle of expressed or forumla, i also have a 3yr old and finding it almost impossible to get dinner ready, bath and bed because her sister is always clamped to me,my 5week old is like this 4/5nights a week,
advice would be gratefull. how do i settle her without being latched on? or am i stick like this?
p.s forgot to say she wont take a dummy, tried, she hates it

I really don't have anything helpful to say, I'm sorry...but if I was you I'd ask to see a different health visitor - she sounds like she's living in the dark ages!

If I was you, so this is just my opinion, I'd feed her for as long as I could stand and then just give her expressed/formula...but that is totally just what I'd do. I hope others have better suggestions.

Also, Ally hates the dummy too - what a nightmare!

My LO was exactly like this. It sounds a bit like she's cluster feeding. And a baby's fussy time of the day is often at night. Don't worry it won't last forever, in fact you may be on the very tail end of things. After that last massive growth spurt 6-8 weeks things settle down a lot.

Have you considered wearing baby? That helped my sanity out tremendously, and baby got to feel close :)

(Just keep trying the pacifier, and try different ones! My LO didn't like anything but AVENT after 2-3 weeks of trying different ones, then she ultimately settled on MAM ones. She started a pacifier at 5-6 weeks. She's 12 weeks now.)

Just keep trying new things, or trying old stuff over again :)

my baby is like this!
pacifier is what mw suggested and like margerie said, try different brands. order that mam one in 'freebies' section of this board. mw said that i have sucky baby and the soother is sure to work...i live in hope.
