my little one is nearly 8 week old, over the last 11 days he's upped his feed from 3oz to 5oz the problem with this is its taking me an hour and half to get him to finish the bottle which u can imagine is very frustrating, he sleeps for 10-20min inbetween each ounce or so, i f i leave after 3oz he screams the place down for more, and by the time he's finished his feed his next one is due not long after, has anyone any advice what i can do? he's on the no.2 avent teat and ive tried him with hungrier baby formula for 3 days but its not agreed with him he's thrown up every feed and got very bad runs from it so swapped him back, im seeing my health visitor on the 7th but just wanted abit of advise what to do til then, im pullinmg my hair out xx

also today i cant even get him to finish all his bottles before he flakes out hes had 3oz at 6am, 5oz at 8.50am and 2.5oz at 11.30am

So is he falling asleep on the stage 2 teats aswell that are making him sick?

I see youve jumped from 3 to 5 oz's ... did 4oz's not make any difference?

once you haveeventually finished a full bottle with him, when he next whinges for a feed, give him boiled cooled water. try and hold him off for a bit longer (not too long tho), then when you do give him a bottle of milky he should take a decent amount. i have to do this with scarlett every few days as shes exactly the same..... hth.

he's falling asleep with the no.2 teat, it was only the hungry baby formula that was making him sick but changed back now so that bit is ok, 4oz didnt satisfy him, today ive just been feeding him whenever he wanted it so he's been having 2oz every hour or hour and half, its just so frustrating when u can do nothing but feed all day

i'll give that a try thanks, any advice on how i can get him to finish a bottle a little faster? an hour and half is too long to feed.

have you thought of trying the stage 3 teats...archie is 10 weeks and since 5 weeks as ive been using the 3+ month teats as the others were too slow for him...he has a 2 for his water but needs the faster teat for milk feeds...it might be worth getting one to try...archie went from taking an hour for 4oz down to 25 mins...it sounds like maybe hes getting tired from sucking before hes had enough if that makes sense

I was going to suggest the next stage up as well..it sounds like he's wearing himself out trying to eat out of those..to fall asleep after every ounce. I would try the next stage nd see how he does with it

Or have you tried laying him down on a cold surface when he doses off, not really cold but a sofa or changing mat. Sometimes they can dose off through relaxation. I discovered this as Olivia would feed fall alseep I'd put her down and she'd wake up crying wanting more again so now, after about half way we wind and put her down and it wakes her up enough to finish her feed.

Other than that perhaps what everyone else has said. good luck

i have actually tried the no.3 teats a couple of week ago but he was unsure, might give them another go today and see how he gets on. thanks x
