My little boy is 11 weeks old, he was bf for 7 weeks then switched to aptamil 1, he was a very windy baby and did not poop often, we switched him to aptamil comfort which he has been on for 4 weeks. He is still only pooping once a week, he seems in pain everyday yet when he poops he is not constipated. I have tried everything, colief etc and nothing helps. Had him at the doctors plenty of times who just tell me to persevere with a colicy baby. I just know something is wrong! Any advice x

hi there, i found when i tried aptimal comfort lo was constipated but when we tried cow and gate comfort he has been pooing every day more than one usually, i know your not meant to change milks but i did this with my hv advice, i'm not sure why there was such a difference though as i thought cow and gate and aptimal were pretty much the same company, it worked for us though x good luck, it's horrible when ur lo is really unsettled and u just want to do something to help!

We had this problem when my little boy was on SMA so i swiched to Cow & Gate and after a few days he was pooping regulrily and has been fine since. It's a case of what works best for your bubs and sometimes they just don't agree with the milk they are on.

Did you switch to cow & gate comfort also?

Hiya, sorry to hear your Lo is struggling in the poop dept.

Joni has suffered with constipation since she was 8 weeks old. I was breastfeeding her exclusively when the problem started and has needed daily doses of lactulose and suppositories every 3-4 days to "go".

In our case her not pooping resulted in her not feeding properly and she began refusing the breast and we ended up switching to formula. In view of her poop problems we chose aptimal comfort and she is now pooping most days.

It sounds like you might need to try a different brand of comfort milk - if that still doesn't result in regular poops it might be that your LO has a backlog that needs to be cleared so maybe suppositories from the GP may be an idea, failing that you can ask to be referred to the paediatric doctor for further advice - don't let them fob you off. If you know your LO is not right insist on a referral.

I hope you get things sorted soon :hugs:
