Hi,

I got my BFP a few days ago and I feel terrible. I have flu like symptoms including all over body aching, headache, hot and cold, sleepiness, a slight sore throat and nausea. I have heard that this can happen. Does anyone have experience of this, why it happens and how long it will last?? My first appt with the midwife is on 1 August.

I have had this with almost all of my pregnancies hun so don't worry xx

I have had it this time too and had tonsillitis lol with my oldest girl I had a chest infection its just our boddies getting use to the idea of being preggers. But if still unwell get ur self to the doctors as U may have some sort of viral xx

Hi,

Thanks for your reply :D

How long did you feel like that in your pregnancies?

I do feel a lot better today.. the flu-like aching and hot and cold was making it very difficult to sleep and I was panicking that I was going to be like this through the entire 9 months lol. I'm still slightly achey and tired, and my sore throat has got worse.. but I'm generally feeling happier today!! Phew!!

xx

dont worry with my last pregnency i had 103-104 F tem for 5 days in a row and i was 6 week pregnent ...but every thing turn out gr8...just avoid antibiaotics...now i have beautuful and healthy 8 months old....

It's nothing to worry about - It's just your body supressing your immune system until the baby is firmly implanted and your body gets used to its little 'invader'. The symptoms will go as quickly as they came :-)

Me too :( boo! But if it's helping bubs I'm all for it :)

It prob lasted a good few days but tbh I think the start of all of my pregnancies I have been on antibiotics so they helped lol xx hope U are feeling better x

I'd recommend paracetamol, fluids and plenty of rest. And see a doc if it's not better in a couple of days - those aren't pregnancy symptoms, but your immune system is lower in pregnancy so your system doesn't reject the baby, so you've probably caught a virus. And if a doctor prescribes antibiotics, take them - there are plenty that are safe in pregnancy and they will only give you them if you really do need them.
Hope you feel better soon x

Hi everyone,

I did end up going to the doctors and she said that I had got a virus that hadn't completely gone with sinus congestion causing me the bad head pain I was having. She gave me a nasal decongestant and Paracetamol and I have been feeling a lot better. Just got morning sickness and tiredness to contend with now.

Thanks for all your responses.
