Sorry for the long winded title but not quite sure how to word what i want to ask......

if anything happens to me whilst giving birth or when my baby has arrived, I would like parental responsibility of baby to go to my parents.....

Baby's dad will not be going on birth certificate and i will refuse access and money from him for as long as the courts allow (violent, druggie loser and not to be trusted)

I just wanted to know how i can go about gettiing my wishes heard..... I have nothing at present but do i make a will or is there any other type of legal document that can show that i want my baby to be looked after by my parents.....

I know this may be a strange question but i would just like my wishes to be heard and to feel at ease knowing my baby will always be safe and with my family......

Any ideas

Hi, im not entirely sure...i havnt really thought about it in depth though i know how you feel i wouldn't want LO going to FOB if anything happened to me :(

I think a will is about the only way to go about having something in writing stating your wishes although i believe that a court can grant custody to FOB if he proves himself capable of looking after baby even with what your will would say. Although im not entirely sure!! And im sure they would look into all claims of violence, drug abuse etc. I hope someone else can offer better advice! xx

Hi Happybeans!!
Been thinking about you!!!! OK, I might be able to help as I have the same sorts of concerns. You need to get a will done. If you have anything to leave your child then do a Child trust - but the will man will advise you. Then you can specify the folks who are to become legal guardians of bubs on that form. I have done this and I have specifically excluded FOB from anything that I have. I seriously think that this is the best you can do to safe guard your baby.
I also will not be asking for any financial help and hopefully like your violent FOB, mine also stays away!
If you need to PM me - please do! xxxxxxx

hey, Yeah you need to get a will or Living will made, And also when you are in the hospital im sure they make you say who your next of kin is.. and then would say your parents.. etc. If fob isnt on the BC or around then i doubt very much he can take baby. Most he can do is APPLY to the courts to see/get baby, so make sure you have a will stating exactly why he shouldnt.

if ur really worried about this i think u need to go see a solicitor and get a will sorted out and in that u can name the person u want to be guardian of ur child if anything was to happen.

but if the fob gets a dna test and is proven to be the father he could fight this

A will writer will be cheaper. I paid about 117 pounds all in with the child trust etc. I think solicitor will be more expensive and probably a bit un necessary.

Thank you for all your advice..... I am going to look into getting a solicitor to prevent FOB contacting me (an injunction) for when baby is born and hopefully they will sort something out there..... Everything just seems so complicated!!! :-(

thanks again
