Hello to everyone,

I have decided to move over from the TTC forums. I am now on my 17th Cyle of TTC and have therefore decided to accept the fact that this baby making business is taking me longer than most other people. The witch arrived in full force yesterday and for some reason this month it has totally broken me and I feel so so upset and angry that I dont seem to be able to make a baby. I have booked an appointment with the Dr for next week for myself and my husband to discuss matters and see if there are any tests they can do to try and give us a reason why I haven't conceived yet. I of course appreciate that some of you ladies have been trying a lot longer than me and maybe wondering what I am moaning about!

I would like some advice please about where to go from here. I know I have the Dr's appointment booked but not too sure what he will suggest.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated xx

Hiya mamawannabe!
Welcome!!! Well first of all the doctor will ask your OH to do a SA and you will be asked to do some blood tests to see if your ovulating. Then they will go from there depending on the results.
FX everything is ok xx

wow, I'm amazed you had the patience to wait 17 months before going to see the Dr. I was there straight away after our 12th month as soon as I knew we'd been trying long enoough for them to start investigations.

As obe said, they will first arrange a SA for your OH and a blood test for you on CD21 to check that you are ovulating. In my case, both of those came back OK so were then referred to see the FS at the hospital. They arranged a HSG to check tubes were open and a scan to check for cysts. After all that came back OK, we were told we would be put on the waiting list for IUI which we should start next month.

It all takes longer than you think though, everything is timed so that effectively treatment will start 12 months after your first visit to the doctor and that is almost exactly what it will be for us!

Hi Girls, many thanks for your replies. I have been charting for the last 17 cycles and it appears I am ovulating every month without fail pretty much on the same day every month with a fairly regular cycle between 24 and 26 days. I guess its just a case of whether DH swimmwers are swimming and if my egg can get through... such complicated business!!! I am just gald we are doing something about it now and taking positive steps rather than burying our heads in the sand!

Good luck as you start this new process! It can be somewhat scary, but I also found hope in it knowing that we were doing all that we could be to make a baby. And we are all here to support you during this process!

:dust:

Thanks hopesforababy... thats really comforting. Sometimes it can feel quite a lonely time and that nobody else understands particularly when talking to people who have children such as the majority of my friends and my husband (previous marriage!) xx

Hi girls, This is my first post even though I have been ttc for 2 1/2 years now. Had a doctors appointment earlier this month to start the ball rolling with the dreaded investigations. I had my Day 21 test done on Tuesday and was told today that it showed that I was ovulating. Pleased, but gutted at the same time, as I still don't know why I haven't fallen pg yet! My cycles are always 28 days on the dot, so really very confused at the moment. Got a doctors appointment tomorrow to discuss the results and see what will happen next. Not really too sure what to expect though. Anyone in the same situation.

Currently trying very hard to keep PMA but am finding it difficult when everyone else I speak to is 'accidentally' falling pregnant!!

Babydust to everyone, lets hope 2010 is our year!! xx

Just wanted to wish you Good luck and I hope you find some answers soon. I understand how some cycles when the witch arrives it hits us harder then the rest of the time. But one positive thing is that as a result of your sadness and frustration you decided to do something about it.

:hugs:
