Hi ladies.

Been ttc for a year next month. I still can't believe me and my husband havnt conceived. I was dissapointed even after the first month we tried, so you can imagine how I'm feeling after almost a year....

Anyway, my blood work was normal...waiting on an analysis from my husband. If that's normal, what is next???

I know clomid is given to women who aren't ovulating, but what about the women who are, and still aren't getting pregnant? Is it ever given as a boost to get pregnant?

Is there anything that can be given to me to help me conceive even if there aren't any real reasons why I'm not getting pregnant? I think they say 90% of couples will conceive within a year of having unprotected sex. So, it's not like it's been 2 months-it's been nearly 12 months of BDing on the important days! Ughhhh I'm so frustrated!

I have heard of clomid being given even though a woman was ovulating. However, that may be a rare exception. I hope you get some answers with your OH's analysis. Have you had a chemical during that time? What about a uterine ultrasound? It's possible your blood works is okay, but your uterine wall may not be ideal for implantation

I havnt had a chemical pregnancy. Uterine ultrasound is next after the semen anylysis. My doctor doesn't believe either of us have any health issues-we are both healthy. But for peace of mind and to take the next step the tests need to be done.

Glad to hear you're looking into all possible explanations. I'm sorry you're going through this. Please update us when you get some results

I know several girls here on the forum - myself included - that have been given Clomid even though they have been ovulating. My doctor prescribed it in hopes I would release two eggs instead of one, thus giving DH's swimmys more of a chance of fertilizing at least one egg.

Another woman on the board was given Clomid to try to have her release two eggs as well - just so that there would be more progesterone in her system and then she was given a progesterone shot to keep her levels up - she's now 22 weeks along :)

The next step really is just to wait for the results. The doctor will walk you through what happens after. You can still see a fertility clinic for unexplained fertility after one year of trying even if all of your tests come back normal.

Chin up, it'll get better :)

Hello, I have been ttc for almost a year. Some women who have short luteal phases will get prescribed clomid to ovulate sooner. Are you temping? Temping can help confirm ovulation as well as determine your LP length. After the u/s you can ask for an HSG to see if your tubes are blocked. Are you having regular periods??? Even if you are you may want a hormone panel done, especially if your health insurance pays for it.

Are you seeing an OB or a fertility doctor? If your tests come back normal you may want to look for a referral to a fertility doc.

I made an appointment with a fertility specialist for the end of May. Still crossing my fingers that I'll get pregnant within the next two cycles-I'm 1dpo today. And I'll have one more shot before my appointment with the specialist.

I did have a test on cd 3 for hormones, everything came back normal. My periods are within the normal range, although my cycles can be anywhere for 23-30 days. The last 3 months my cycles were exactly 28 days so maybe I'm becoming more regular.

I had the progesterone test done of CD21 last cycle-the results led my dr to believe I didn't ovulate. But I had the blood test only 3 or 4 days after I got a positive on my OPK, so we both think it was too early. I'm taking the progesterone test on cd 24 this cycle and I really don't have any doubts that the results will come back normal. My cm always seems to doing what it it should throughout my cycle. And from looking at my chart, I had a drop and now temps are back up.

I just started temping this past cycle.

I am confused though, why would clomid be given to ovulate sooner? And what is considered s short lp?

It's not that Clomid will help you ovulate sooner. I know when I was on it I actually ovulated way later. Just in women who normally ovulate it can stimulate more than one follicle, thus giving you a better chance.

A short LP- Luteal Phase - can stop an egg from implanting, just because it doesn't have any time to grow. Eggs typically can plant anywhere from 6-12 DPO, so an LP of 10 or shorter can be an issue.

My doctor told me most women who take Clomid days 5-9 will be set up to ovulate around day 14. I will be taking Clomid for the first time in a week or so, whenever my cycle starts so I will let you know when I ovulate on it. If you have 10 days or less between your ovulation date and your period than your LP is short and it is highly unlikely that an egg can implant.

I took Clomid 5-9 (50mg) and usually ovulate around CD16-17, but didn't O until CD21 that cycle, and my LP got pushed out from its 12 days to 15. Every woman is different.

2ducks & Abe-what's it like to be on clomid?

2ducks this was your first time right?

I am wondering what the side affects and process is like...don't you have to get ultrasounds to see when you'll ovulate?

You can be on a monitored cycle (where they'll do ultrasounds to see how your follicles are growing) or you can have an unmonitored cycle where the only difference between a Clomid cycle and a natural cycle is taking the Clomid.

Personally I experienced hot flashes, really sharp O pains, a late O and higher temps that month (I think they were in the 99 degree range post O). I also had a longer LP. If I recall correctly it jumped from 12 days to 16.
