Hello,

I apologise if there are already a million threads on this but I can't find what I am looking for.

I am going to start taking agnus cactus for suspected low progesterone (I have spotting before and after af) but I don't know what to dosage to take. There 400mg tablets, 100mg tables (both say take 2 twice a day) or 500mg liquid. My reflexologist suggested the liquid one but that seems like a massive dose.

Also, there seems to be conflicting advise; do you stop taking it once you ovulated or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I took Agnus Cactus for 5 months in tablet form for 5 months 2 x 400mg so 800mg a day. I didnt have spotting and had fairly regular periods 28-30 but thought what the heck i'll give it a try. I felt great on them lots of energy and i definetely noticed a increase in my sex drive
However for whatever reason they actually made my period last longer around 8/9 days with dark spotting starting around day 4...maybe this was bcos i didnt have a problem with spotting in the first place, i perservered for a few months but the spotting continued. I tried taking them to ovulation, then tried taking them all month long but there was no change so i stopped taking them completely. Sorry this isnt much help, but i'd say since you do have spotting then you have nothing to lose. I've heard the liquid form is more potent with better results so i think i'd go for that. Hello,
My naturopath told me that it is more of a hormone regulator than for deficiencies. She said it is fine to take all month. I also had a longer period but didn't connect the two! Mine is in a pill called estrosmart that is supposed to be a fertility blend. There is 80 mg per cap and I take 2/day. It says take up to 4 but I wanted to ease into it.
