Once a week I have 1-2 glasses of wine. This is after reading the AAP and LLLI stance that 1-2 alcohol beverages a week has not been shown to harm breastfeeding infants.
Everything I've read online has said that the kind of consumption I've described is not likely to be harmful to baby, but the measures of "harm" include only physical and mental milestone development. What about liver damage? Can babies get liver damage from a mother's alcohol consumption, even in the small amounts described? I always wonder why they don't mention this when they talk about contraindications of alcohol and breastfeeding.
