How much can we have if any at all? I know we cant get blotto!!! I didnt drink at all during pregnancy and I know it goes through the breast milk so am unsure!

would jus like a glass of wine or a larger..........is been a hard day

My health visitor says a glass of wine is absolutely fine. She says that the amount that gets through into your milk is soooo tiny that it wont affect the baby in any way... she also said there no harm in a couple of glasses either, IF enough were to get through to the baby (which she says is very unusual) they might just sleep a little longer but nothing harmful at all.

(I still havent been brave enough to have a glass myself though!)

I have a glass of wine every night now, but that's ok as he sleeps through the night once he's down now!

Before that though, I would have a glass now and then, but it was a very small glass. this won't harm baby hun x x

Have a glass straight after a feed by time he feeds again there wont be much left and also very little passes thru x

I have the odd drink! Have also had a couple of nights out and not fed till the next day but counted the units and hours to get it out of system.

My auntie is a senior MW and says a glass or two is fine as long as you dont go mad!! xx

I'm sat her with my glass now! But even when I was feeding still at this time, I had a glass of red most evenings. If you start it as you finish feeding very little will pass but the next feed.

I will have a glass or two of wine, but i only drink 5% wine as i only like REEAAALLLY sweet wine so i figure i can have slightly more I think a few glasses is ok like Wishes says only a tiny bit gets through

I have the odd glass. I read somewhere (will try to find linkie) that only around 2% of the alcohol can get into the milk. The site also said "if you're sober enough to drive, you're sober enough to bf" - which i think is good to remember. I couldn't cope without the odd glass after a manic day.

I very rarely drink but went out on Sat and had a few drinks, I pumped and dumped Sat night and all day Sun just in case and gave Ollie EBM until 7pm on Sun when I fed him. I was so worried alcohol would pass in my BM. Feel silly now, what a waste of my milk!! lol
