You'd think it would be easier second time round....
Ok my DS is 5 week old and was on SMA for a few days when I had finished giving colostrum. He seemed to be quite sicky and sounded like he was straining to poo but poo was soft.
Within a few days of being hi e I put him on aptamil. As the weeks have gone on he's become more and more sicky and writhes around a lot farting his head off and seems mega uncomfortable. Only pooing every other day too.
Doctor gave us gaviscon but his poo was so hard I took him off it and we've been using carobel feed thickener for the last week.
I tried Hipp as had heard good things but he won't drink it but the small amount he did have he didn't throw up and there was no carobel in it but he's been refusing feeds but starving so I tried a bottle of SMA and he drank it all and wasn't sick (again no carobel).
Now I'm wondering if the sick was just because he was being greedy as 4-5oz at 2-4 weeks is a lot.
He has silent reflux also and I know wind and silent reflux come hand in hand so:
Is it the silent reflux causing the bellyache? Or the aptamil?
Has the sick stopped because his tummy can now accommodate 4oz?
He seems content since stopping the aptamil bar the silent reflux pain but I'm scared he will get constipated after everything you hear about it making babies constipated.
Do I go back to aptamil (he's only been off it for 8 feeds maximum) or stick with sma or try cow and gate (though I would imagine it would be same as aptamil for my DS given its very similar
