So I've been taking some samples of Singular(every morning for the past week and half) because my allergies have been really bad..can this make me lack CM? O is right around the corner and I don't notice any cm what so ever. When I check my cp, its high and feels wet around it. I started taking Mucinex to help thin out my CM. But now I'm freaking out if Singular is drying me up..I didn't even think about it until today that possible it could be. Anyone know? Also how long will it take to get it out of my system so maybe by the time I O I'll still have some luck with getting ewcm??

:cry::cry:

I have no idea sorry! I have bad allergies too but haven't taken anything for them yet. I'm not aware of what they'd do to our TTC journey. Hope someone can help :)

Oh I read about this in my book because I have hayfever. Let me go get my book and I'll type what it says!

The book I have is Fertility and Conception by Dr Karen Trewinnard

It has a list of drugs that can affect CM and it says for antihistamines that it may decrease and/or thicken CM.

My allergies are brutal this time of year. Knowing this I talked to my doctor about it before the season started to see what's ok to take. She told me that single-ingredient antihistamines (oral) will not be harmful while TTC and should not effect cm or anything. She said that antihistamines with more than one ingredient are unsafe for those pregnant and TTC (these are often the drugs labeled 'cold and sinus'). Also, she said I shouldn't use Otrivin or other nasal sprays due to the harmful ingredients in it.

So I'm using plain old benadryl, which is mediocre in helping with my allergies but much better than nothing. I miss my otrivin...but the sacrifice is worth it (I hope...still not pregnant).

If you're worried about cm, chat with your pharmacist or doctor, though. And if you haven't done so already, I'd recommend preseed for dryer days.

Good luck. Hope some of this was helpful!

Okay so I looked up the side effects and the ingredients and the main ingredient is Montelukast. I cant find anywhere that it lists its a antihistamine. So maybe I'm safe? Even though I won't continue taking it while TTC. Maybe I'm dry becasue we had some long/rough :sex: last night..I think I'll go pick up some preseed tonight and go with that to help. We usually don't use any lube so that could be why I'm so dry too.

I also suffer terrible allergies (allergic to cows and live and work on a dairy farm) and I read somewhere that antihistamines can dry up cm. But after talking to my doc about it, I understand that, that is sometimes the case where they are used constantly. Like for me, double dosage and twice as often. So if you are just using them seasonally and sticking to the directions then you shouldn't have too many troubles. I know I'm behind the ball on this one. Hope it all got sorted though.

I have horrible allergies too and i do believe antihistamines dry your cm it drys up other things to like your eyes and skin but as long as you try not to take them everyday you should be ok. on really bad days i use a neti pot its not the nicest thing to do but it works and you can use it when your pregnant.
