What does an "almost positive" actually mean?

My cycles have been a bit messed up.
I tested +OPK & got crosshairs on FF 5 days ago so I'm supposedly 5dpo .. but have been testing as I'm still unsure about my cycles.
Just got an "almost positive" on an OPK .. does this mean I didn't ovulate & I'm going to ovulate soon? Or can they be all over the place at different times of the month?
I thought they would be negative from CD1-12, almost positive from 12-13, positive on CD14 and then stay negative until AF?

It's not a 'true' positive until the test line is as dark as or darker than the control line. We always have some lh is our system which is why you can get faint to a little darker lines throughout the month.

That's the difference between a hpt and an opk. Any second line, faint or dark, is usually considered positive as long as it was administered correctly on a hpt. A second line on an opk doesn't mean positive until it is as dark as or darker than the control line.

I'm sure you probably ovulated when your opk was positive and when FF gave you crosshairs. Good luck!
