Anyone cutting down on toys this year? I swear, I've overdone it every year for my kids for most of the stuff to sit in a corner. I vowed last year to cut down...hahaha I think I will get my older ones and stepkids one bigger present and the rest clothes. Toys are passe for them now.

Even with Chase, he's more into Jayden's toys which is good as they are being recycled. So he's not getting many toys at all.

I have NO CHOICE but to cut down this year as buying baby stuff has cost me a fortune. Plus when I'm on maternity leave my wage will be decreasing by over half!

I will still spoil my daughter as much as possible but everyone else will have to miss out a bit this year. I feel bad about it though

i am cutting down definatly, we cant move in our living room or his bedroom for toys as it was his 1st birthday 2weeks ago! i am not going as mad this year at all he is having mostly practical things from us this year, toddler bed/clothes/trainers etc and just a few bits, he wont go without cus i have a huge family thats spends alot on him so my tiny house can do without me adding another huge pile of toys into it! xx

Of course I will get Alex things but last year I went OTT so this year will probs just get him a little santa teddy :) xxx

That's why I am sticking to my guns this year. :)

 Pretty sure you said the same last year!

I have no idea what we're getting Hannah. She got LOADS for her birthday

 I knew you would come over to the dark side leeanne... would you like your santa hat now? lol
xxx

 I'll let you know when :) Christmas pusher!

Yes, totally cutting down!

Esp on the spending front. Were just buying few for girls to open on xmas day then going to saves on boxing day.

Well I'll say I'm going to be cutting down but I betcha I wont
I say it every year and I never do...

Only time will tell

x

well im gunna have to cut down this year as i now have 2 to buy for. i havent a clue where im gunna put my daughter toys as my son's toys take over the whole house already lol

we are not cutting down as such because my OH is due alot of compo, however we dont feel the need to over spoil the kids on one day (even though I always go OTT lol) I think its much nicer to spread the cost. I also love making things for people. Much more personal. I dont really like the word "spoil" though.

Here's what was an eye opener last year for me. We had our kids open 1/2 their gifts when my stepkids were here and then the other half that night when the stepkids had gone home. After my kids opened their gifts in the morning, they were quite happy and didn't ask if there was more.

This year, my stepdaughter is living with us. Which means more money going out for extra curricular activities...I will be spending almost $900 for the kids to be in soccer, rollerblading hockey and dance this fall. OUCH!

Add a few birthdays from now until then and ouch again.

So, they will get some nice stuff but it won't be overboard this year.

aw bless. I dont get my kids to write a list. They will get what they are given lol and I would hate them to be expectant of something x

Emma, don't Matthew and Ruby write a letter to santa? I love the letters Alysha write to santa :D

Yeah they do the santa letters but they only write random things like the main pressies but tbh they forget what they write anyway OR matthew asks for things like a trip to mars LOL.
