I have been ttc for over a year and am waiting to be referred for further tests, including a lap and dye. I am very anxious about the procedure so want to give it all I've got over the next few months in the hope that I might conceive, and avoid being poked and prodded inside.

So, has anyone tried any alternative therapies? I am mostly interested in accupuncture and homeopathy. I think my infertility may be due to anxiety about being pregnant as I have a phobia of being sick. It has taken a lot of talking therapy to get me to the stage where I am actually trying, but over a year later, and still nothing.

Has anyone experienced these therapies, and did anyone have any positive reactions to them?

Thanks
Caline

hi hun

my friend tried to get pregnant for over 7 years and after years of treatment after treatment (nothing worked - never got pregnant) she tried acupuncture and two months later she fell pregnant. she has a healthy 2 year old son now! she is thinking of having another baby and is going for more acupuncture.

not sure how it works but little Nathan is evidence that it does!

i wish you all the best in your journey hun.

I have been thinking of looking into some alternative methods myself, as I am not willing/able to ($$$) go any further than fertility drugs, and *maybe* IUI, if it comes to that. There is a chinese herbal medicine clinic here, and accupuncture too.

I had acupuncture throughout my first IUI cycle and got pg on the second cyce (accupuncture can take a few weeks to take effect)
We had been TTC almost 3 years previous to the BFP :D

Did both u and ur OH have it, the acupuncturist round me what us both to have it once a week, so it's gonna cost a fortune

I haven't really tried any alternative therapies as such, but am wondering if perhaps your subconscious is stopping you from getting PG. Perhaps a hynotherapy session to help with your fear of being sick might be an option. I think it's quite expensive but it's a one off session with a recording you can listen to at night time and time again, so there won't be any on going expense.

Good luck with whatever option you go for and hopefully you won't need to be poked and prodded too much

I hate being sick and have not found anything to help yet.

I tried reflexology and got the beautician to work on my reproductive area - not sure if it was a coincidence but it did the job.

Worth exploring though x

We tried accupunture, it didn't help us, but we're dealing with severe male factor so we didn't stand much of a chance of it helping.

I think it would be good for you to try something as even if it doesn't get you PG, it might help with your phobias.
