Am I allowed to be a bit cross?

So... I was out shopping today and I went into the family room at the shopping centre to feed Meadow she was screaming her head off. They have four little private feeding rooms with chairs and a lamp. All of the rooms were taken, 2 by bottle feeders and 1 by a woman feeding her toddler a jar of food. I was so cross. I had to stand in the public changing area and feed her. This is the first time Ive ever fed her out of the house, I was on my own and nearly cried. Am I overreacting? Im not saying that bottle feeders arent worthy of using the rooms but... they can feed anywhere i.e one of the many seating areas or a cafe.....

I'm going to be bottle feeding, and i would have definatly let you have my spot there. like you say, you can bottle feed anywhere

aw how awfull! i think one of them should have offered you a room!!

No of course your right hun, that was a bit out of order!!

If anyone does that next week when we're out i will tell them off

Totally out of order , as a bottlefeeder im surprised they take up those spaces as as you say we can pretty much feed anywhere! :hugs:

i think thats well out oforder! well done for feeding standing up tho, i well cant do that!! xx

You are well within your right to be cross hun, good on you for staying around and feeding tho i hope one of them felt uncomfortable and will think again next time xxxx

:hugs: maybe they didn't realise that you were wanting to bf... tell them to MOOVEEE lol

I would hae been mad too!! I cant understand why someone who was spoon feeding would ned privacy???

That is a great idea... those little rooms, we definately do not have anything like that here. Not that i've seen...

Ive mastered the art of feeding walking around! Ive had to with my unruly dog. He wrecks the house when hes not getting any attention.

Not an over reaction. I would have asked if they minded swapping with you out in the public bit. They probably didnt think if they were empty before you got there.

Which shopping centre was that BTW! Sounds fab!! :D

:hugs: you're totally right honey! as a bottler feeder i much prefer feeding maddi sitting down in a cafe etc. you should have said MOVE! though i did see a lady this week b-feeding in a cafe, and i thought, good on her :) they're's no difference imo :)

omg thats amazing! i managed to walk to the window the other day...i saw a fireengine go by

On a more positive note the baby changing areas there are amazing. Its westfield shopping centre in London. They have a seating area with a tv for toddlers. a changing area. Toilets and then the feeding rooms. Better than the scummy smelly baby changing rooms in most places where ur scared to touch anything

They do sound gorge! The only time I've used one it was in Mothercare World and it stank. :( No ventilation at all - I might have well sat in a public toilet. I dont bother with them now for that reason but I'd definately take them up on that kind of welcoming environment!

That would have pee'd me off no end!
The ones in Bluewater are lovely. Very clean and a rocking chair with a lovely comfy cushion on it. I actually look forward to feeding him, so that I can have a relaxing rock half way through shopping! My hubby goes off and gets me hot chocolate just to finish it off!

I think thats out of order, i think i would have politely asked one of them if they were going to be finished soon as i needed to sit and breastfeed!!

Why would you need privacy to bottle feed or spoon feed a baby?....very strange. I would have been annoyed as well.

You are well within your rights to have been angry. I don't understand why someone spoon feeding a toddler would need the privacy?

Well done on feeding Meadow despite everything!

xxx

Ewwwwww, why would you want to spoon feed a toddler where people change poopy nappies!!!! The smell in some of these changing rooms is seriously bad.

We have a Westfied shopping centre in Derby and they've made a great effort creating their parenting rooms. However, the other day, all but one cubicles were taken. Just as I was unloading to go in, a woman barged past me, took the cubicle and changed her toddlers poopy nappy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clearly she couldn't wait for the mat to become available.

I'd like to think I'm more aware than that!!!
