I posted about LO dribbling loads if milk during a feed, and figured it was because she's been using the teats with 2 holes. So today I went and bought the size 1 teats, with 1 hole for newborns, and she's dribbling more! I know that perhaps newborns can't suck as hard so the teat needs to release more milk, but I assumed having one hole meant that less would come out.

Was I supposed to go up to 3 holes?

I would say your LO should be on no1 teat.

I tried moving Anna to no2 around 2.5months as she was straining to get the milk out quicker etc but the flow was too fast.

Are you stopping half-way through for winding? If not, try that.

Stick with size 1.
If it is tommee tippee teats they have an air valve that you should keep free from milk so have that to the top when feeding - milk can flow out of that valve if bottle is not held correctly.:flower:

Chloe's always been on size 2 teats, but only in the last few weeks has started dribbling more, though she's very happy to take a full feed, so I don't think it's that she's not hungry.

When I gave the size 1 teat today and noticed she was dribbling more it was within the first couple of minutes of the feed, and she was really hungry, so it can't be that she doesn't want it.

Oh, and I'm using the Avent bottles, so I don't think there's an issue with the valve.

Very confusing, but I will try again and see what happens :flower:

If I remember correctly, the Avent size 2 teats are for 1 month + so she should be fine. It's really odd that she just started doing this. Maybe it will stop as suddenly as it started? I am sorry that's such a lame thing to say. Scarlett always dribbled quite a bit with the Avent ones, I used to think they were too fast for her but in retrospect they are probably better than other brands.

Belle sometimes dribbles, I think it might depend on how quickly they are swallowing compared to how much they are sucking? I don't know just my thoery!! She has been on no 1 teats, but the other day I tried a couple of bottles with no 2 and found she was gagging so think TOO much was coming out for her to cope with and she was sick twice on that day so again perhaps she was taking in too much at once. So gone back to no 1's for now, and she seems better.
