Am I doing something wrong?

I worry that I'm doing something wrong because Elyse is 12w and she only takes a maximum of 4oz at once during a feed (past couple days has only taken 3oz at once TBH)...

Today she only took 4 3oz bottles and 2oz of another.

She's growing fine and seems happy, content. Sleeps through the night about 10:30 or 11pm until 7am most days. I just don't want people to think I'm like starving my baby or something because she's little.

Please just reassure me that how much your baby eats is out of your control? Or give me a slap and tell me how to get her eating better?

If Elyse is happy and content and growing just fine, then I wouldnt worry IMO.

AJ is now 6 1/2 months and will only take 6oz and only 4 bottles (was 4/5 but were weaning now). At Elyse's age he was taking around the same as her. Try as I might there was no way to get anymore milk into him. x

Harry is 4 months old now and only has 3-4oz bottles. On the side of the formula tub it says he should be having 6oz bottles by now. I've tried starving him and stretching feeds out to see if he'll take more, but he still just has 4oz. The HV told me that people take too much notice of what is said on the side of formula tubs and that all babies are different - some eat more than others. I'm not overly concerned because he's putting weight on (albeit slowly). It would be nice if he could feed more, as he might sleep longer... but i've just accepted it now. He's never been a big fan of FFding. I'll be glad when he's weaned to be honest.

thats fine ur not doing anything wrong. Zanes 8 months n still only takes 5oz which is the messurment hes been on since he was 4 weeks. All babies r different long as shes gaining weight and is happy dont worry x

Elyse is doing fantastic!! Shes growing and happy and content! She might just be a small eater! LeeAnne over eats (even the doctor said that ) but I cant do anything about it! She takes 5oz every 3hours...so you're on one and of the scale and I'm on the other...our little girls need to have a chat with eachother and meet in the middle LOL

I wouldnt be worried at all! If your doctor isn't concerned then you shouldn't be either! Elyse is going to be a petite little thing!

Some babies just arent big milk drinkers hun, as long as she is content and gaining weight properly i really wouldnt worry yourself hun, seh'll take what she needs

Yeah I agree, sounds like she is doing fine!! Casen never took more than 4oz until 11mo...and it wasn't even always 4oz, it was more like 1-3oz with occasional 4oz bottles. but he was growing, peeing, pooing all that and perfectly healthy.

Her and I were actually talking about this today, she said Hannah NEVER ate the amount of formula in the guidelines for her age! But she was still growing fine!

Jasmine has never been a big bottle drinker. Even now 6-7oz is alot in one sitting. She drank 4-5oz for ages.

Hannah's always been a low milk drinker, in fact unless she was hitting a growth spurt she never took more than 24 ounces. But she's a very healthy little girl Some babies just aren't big milk drinkers

Baya is 11 weeks old and has 4oz bottles - sometimes she'll only drink 3 oz of it too! She also sleeps from 9/10pm to around 7am. Very occasionally she'll have an extra ounce but not very ofter. DD2 was the same. As long as she's happy and growing fine I shouldn't worry. I figure they'll eat as much as they need x x

If she's happy then there's no problem Jack only takes 5oz at a time, and quite often leaves a bit!

*slaps* lol your not doing anything wrong hunni! aiden is 5 months now and usually has 3 meals plus 4 8oz bottles, but every now and again he will only feel like having 3 or 2 bottles! if she is happy and content and still her usual self and you are still getting wet nappies i wouldnt worry too much hun xx

If she doesn't want it than she doesn't want it, you can not force a child to eat!

my mil is a health vistor and she thinks she knows it all and loves to tell me when im doing things "wrong" in other words not her way i just ignore her and say hes my son.

dont pay attention to people who just love to nit pick

i only make 5oz bottle for rhys and he rarely finishes them.

Helena was always like that. She now drinks 3 - 8 ounces at a time. Like right now she just drank 3 ounces.

Back then, 4 ounces was the max amount she drank, and I was worried too, but she's growing and is in perfect health.
