today our little girl has had so many bottles. since 5pm tonight she had had three 3oz bottles and finished them all. she is now on her fourth as I'm typing this. she hasn't done a poo today either. is it possible that we are feeding her too much? the only thing is, we only feed her when she wants it. could it be a growth spurt? ahh I'm worried lol :(

It's very difficult to over feed a baby, she's just taking what she wants and needs, any excess will return itself to sender!

Could you try offering her 4oz at a time rather than 3?

Sounds normal. When my son was a newborn he ate small amounts frequently

I had my health visitor round today and my baby is only one day younger than yours. She said that my baby will probably be wanting more than 3oz soon so maybe you just need to start feeding her slightly more? x

I was going to say the same thing. If you give them too much they just overflow :)

I worry about this all the time but at the end of the day if she didn't want it she wouldn't take it! My baby is 3 weeks tomorrow and we've just started him on 5oz bottles. He has a bottle pretty much every 2-3 hours from 7am first bottle of the day-10.30pm last bottle. We go to bed then he wakes around 3/4am for a feed.

Have you tried giving water? I find this helps a little but also helps them poo. Xx

If she's finishing her bottles hun it's time to start making up an extra oz - that's the rule of thumb. Francesca was on 3oz from birth and went up to 4oz at a week old then 5oz at 3 weeks old. That could be why she's wanting bottles more often. Plus if she's going through a growth spurt that can make them want feeds more often too and will settle back down after a few days xx

Sounds normal too me! Maybe up too 4 ounces at a time and it might "stretch" the gap between them! If she doesn't want it you'll get it back! As for the poop try a warm bath and rub the sponge clockwise on her belly! But my LO regularly skips a day when it comes too poops!

Give water between feeds to help with pooing. And like outhers have said up the bottels to 4oz And maybe if you are still useing the 1st milk try the next milk.

I'm sorry but I disagree with trying the next milk - I'm assuming you mean hungry baby? If LO is struggling to poo hungry baby won't help!

Although it says suitable from birth, hungry baby is really designed for babies who are polishing off 8/9oz bottles every couple of hours in order to delay weaning.

It can help make them go longer between feeds but swapping them onto it when they are drinking a perfectly normal amount of first milk can just deny them the amount of essential nutrients and calories they ned to grow - particularly through a growth spurt.

Toby is having 5oz bottles and has done since he was two weeks old. He doesn't always finish these, but if he has gone 3-4 hours without a feed then he will. He still eats every couple of hours. He cries for it, so I give it. If he doesn't want it, it soon comes back up. As for pooing, Toby is the king of this, and poos all the time lol, but I have been giving him water mainly because of the heat & because he seems to need to strain to poo. The water has definitely helped. Defo wouldn't recommend hungry baby formula, just up the amount your giving Francesca by an oz. xx
