Am I having implantation or a period?

Ok so this is my first time trying to conceive so I'm really confused. I got my last period on April 5th-10th. It was completely normal. Then on the 15th I used the ClearBlue Ovulation Predictor Kit and got a low (empty face). On the 16th and 17th it was high ( blinking smiley face) then on the 18th it was peak so I ovulated (solid face). My husband and I dtd on 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th. Then yesterday, the 29th and 11dpo, i started bleeding and im not supposed to get my period until the 5th of May! At first I thought it was implantation bleeding and was really excited but it started getting heavier to where it was just like a normal period. I got cramps for about 4 hours when I started bleeding but that's been it so far. Usually my cycle is about 30 days. The only pregnancy symptoms I've had have been bloating and I've been extremely tired. I've read that implantation bleeding should be really light but that some women have had heavier bleeding. Please help! We really want to start our little family. And if you think I could be pregnant when should I test? I really don't want to waste money on tests if I'm not pregnant but I'm so impatient! Again please let me know your thoughts on this!

its been a little lighter but not by much. This might be tmi buuuut the bleeding started around noon yesterday and filled a super tampon in about 5 hours then the nest took about 5 hours in a regular then over night it was a regular and that was about 9 hours and it wasnt even full

I would take a few more days and see what happens with it, i.e., if it goes away, or continues as your normal period would. If a few days go by and you don't think it was a true period, and you feel you can wait until then, maybe try testing on the day of your expected period (May 5).

I can certainly relate, though, that it is hard to wait to test! Especially when things are happening that are out of the norm. I'm in my first cycle ttc and having a crazy cycle, and it takes all my willpower not to test every single day, lol.

Ha I'll try to wait. My husband doesn't understand why I am so confused. He's just like "wait and see" but I certainly do not have the patience to just sit and wait! It's driving me crazy! But I guess there's nothing else I really can do. This is our 2nd month of trying. Well good luck to you! I hope you get your little bundle of joy soon!

Hi Brooke - this is just my opinion.

That sounds like AF to me. You very well could have ovulated earlier than you think. Though I'd like to believe OPKs the reality is they are just detecting an LH serge. Just because you got a smiley face doesn't mean you ovulated. So unless you temp to confirm ovulation, you really can't be sure the 18th was the day you ovulated.

When I first started TTC my periods were all over the place...first cycle off BC was 26 days, then 32, then 30, and now my average is 27-28.

Basically your period is normal until it isn't.

i was really hoping that the opk would work My cycles are almost always 30 days and if it's off it's only +/- 1 day and that would mean this cycle is 25 days. But this would be an extremely heavy implantation....ahh we really want to have our little one!

I'm having something similar, though I think I just have a short LP, had an odd af this month and I'm sick. I wasn't really feeling 'pregnant' before af showed, but she came 2 days earlier than expected. I, too, did the CBA OPKs and temping and O'ed on the 17th. So I wasn't expecting af until the 26th, but she showed on the 24th. But rather than lasting the typical 5 days with a really heavy day like you describe above, she lasted 3 days w/o real 'heavy' days at all and stopped abruptly w/o any residual spotting like normal.
And I've felt sick on and off all week but that could just be that - I'm sick. It's that time of year! But stuffy/runny nose and a sore throat now. A chin pimple that's screaming at people for attention. No real appetite like usual and I don't have any interest in a glass of wine, barely any interest in coffee. All of these can be otherwise explained, though, so not getting my hopes up. Just suspicious!
and I JUST decided to stop temping b/c I have all the info I need and it really stresses me out or leads me to an insane obsession. I'm on travel right now too w/o my thermometer so I can't take until Friday!

wish2be - it's funny you say you stopped temping because it made things stressful. I find my cycles much MORE stressful when I don't temp. I like to know when I have ovulated, not just so we can time sex right, but because then I KNOW when I should be expecting AF or not.

Brooke - I hope I'm wrong! That was just my opinion from my experiences.

yeah, we'll see how stressed I get now that I have temped and stopped! I am going to rely on the roundabout time I've been ovulating plus the appearance of ewcm and hope for the best! being that I have a short LP, I'm sure there's not much that can be done until I see a doc anyway. So I just figured let it all go until I get an appointment.

hmmm I havent been sick at all lately, just allergies that I get every spring. Usually I love eating but lately, not really any appetite. And quite the opposite with the coffee thing. Usually I don't drink coffee in the morning but for the past week I can barely get out of bed without it!

that could have been a 2nd estrogen surge after O/before AF. I think that happens sometimes. I thought globs of creamy cm were supposed to be a 'sign' but an absence of wouldn't be.

Hello ladies

Thought it might be appropriate for me to post in here, i'm in a similar situation. I O'ed cd23, then took progesterone cream because I have 10/11day lps. This month I had a 10day one despite the cream, gave up temping and the cream. Had "regular" AF, it's always short and light with endless days of (TMI) annoying smudge rather than spotting.

Anyhoo cd9 I take an opk that's almost positive, I say what the heck and take a clearblue test. Faint line. wtf ? Take a digital, it says 1-2weeks. But i had normal AF ! I'm still in shock but I don't know if i had a chemical/am having one, maybe ectopic or am about to early misscarry. But I wanted to butt in to share with you how normal my AF was (plus I'd love the company hehe) I tested at 10dpo and got an evap but ofcourse didn't trust that, had a fairly strong opk both times though !

I can totally see how a normal AF of 'short and light' would be easy to confuse with implantation. So, have you gone to see a doc to confirm? Sometimes IB can be there for a couple of days, so that might have just been it!

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), mine is usually about 5 days of L, M, H, M, L and then a day or two of that smudgy stuff. This month it was spotting, L, M, L and STOP!! and 2 days earlier (though having now learned about LPs and when I O'ed, i guess it was right on time). So I stopped on Sunday and then nothing until yesterday, was having some creamy cm with a twinge of spotting, making it more of a beige cm (sorry, tmi). I was on/off light nausea, barely hungry, super full after little food, gassy (though lunch was mexican!). I dunno what to think, but I don't 'feel' pregnant. I have a solid cold too, so that could be messing me up. I guess it wouldn't hurt to just test and get the guess work out of the way.
