I recently came across this amazing new product called the original Ba, *its great you just attach it to you bottle and your baby can feed itself from 3 months....its incredible I have so much free time now, my little boy can just feed himself wherever we are. *I got it from a company called BabyBoffin (www.babyboffin.com) I highly recommend it...just wanted to share this amazing invention with other mums ..oh its only £10 ...i would pay more for all the time it saves me.*

I could have done with this when my LO was younger. Great invention x

i suppose its good, but for me whether im bf or ff i like to bond with lo... why does a 3 month old need to feed themself?

Of course i love to bond too when feeding but its just so handy for when your in the car or when my boy needs afeed while in his pram or just when I have to do something and I cant hold him. It would be fantastic for mums with twins. Its given me more time its fantastic. Jacob seems to love it too, he plays with it and uses it to chomp on as he is teething. I introduced it quite early and now his grasp and hand to eye coordination seems to be better than any of my friends lo's.

I have to admit, this makes me uncomfortable. It sounds wonderful but I would rather have a messy house or post pone whatever else I needed to do than miss out on that time with my son. They're only small and needy like that for so long. In the car though that sounds GREAT! LOL

There's been a lot of research self-feeding of bottles or 'propping up' and it's actually quite dangerous, so that's a very silly thing for anyone to be trying to market. Babies have choked to death when left unattended with a bottle when they aren't small enough to drink on their own. If your baby is big enough to be using a sippy cup, then there's no harm in them doing that as long as it's supervised (you're holding them or next to them, though that defeats the point of its time-saving efforts). But just the premise of this thing, that you would leave your small baby alone with a bottle is pretty sad if you ask me. I'm not saying that's how everyone would use it and I can see how it might benefit older kids who should have transitioned to a cup make that switch. But I can see a lot of bad come out of this too because people just don't know how dangerous it is. I care for my daughter, feed her every bottle all day, and still manage to keep a decently clean house and am finishing my PhD. If I can do it, anyone can do it!

Not something I'd be comfy using but I can see the appeal.

Earl wouldn't EVER hold a bottle....even when he could hold a sippy cup and a lidded cup without handles, he would still have me hold his bottles which at 12m is a bit tiresome lol. I think in this situation I would have been tempted, but I still think it's something a child should come to on their own.

My youngest started to self feed naturally at 4.5 months, and tbh, I missed it.

One of the reasons I got this was the safety aspect as this apparently was designed last year specifically to eliminate the risk of choking. It talks about it on the website ...I quote from their website ..........There are other bottle holders on the market but the Ba is the first to be designed specifically for a baby’s hands. Studies have shown that many holders are not healthy because they keep the bottle in the baby’s mouth even when the baby falls asleep, producing messes as well as a choking hazard. The Ba presents neither of these issues because it is controlled by the baby’s grip. As a baby falls asleep, their grip loosens and the Ba falls out of their mouth. It’s safe, it’s practical, it’s simple

Besides I dont think you would find any woman who would leave their LO unattended while feeding.

I dont understand why a small baby needs to feed themselves. Thats my job

I would never use this so young, LO is 8 weeks old and I couldnt BF and I love holding him so close turned into my chest as though I am feeding him myself, I love having him so thigh to me and gazing into his eyes, he loves it too.... There was a study before about babies in an home who were always fed facing away from the carer and when they were adopted they had serious emotional problems because they didnt know how to handle the close feeding and eye contact.

I have to agree with a lot of people. A 3 month old doesn't need to be feeding themselves. One of the reasons BFing is so good for a baby is the ammount of close contact with the mother. This is strip upping that away completely. We ff now due to pregnancy and I still feed my almost 11 month old his bottles. He gives himself a sippy cup during the day but I do morning and nighttime bottle. Seems sad to me.

I wouldn't use this, babies should be fed bottles in my opinion, not left to their own devices

Wow how lazy have people got that they can't even spare 10 minutes to spare to feed their child. Stupid invention. Poppy didn't ever hold a bottle somehow I manged to feed her and do all of the hundreds of things that need doing.

Well, that is awesome. :D

My son is 15 weeks and he has just recently DECIDED to start holding his own bottle! I never showed him how or tried to get him to do it because I love feeding him still, but nope. He wants to do it himself except early morning or night, but the rest of the day... he has decided to do it himself. It's adorable, lol. He can do it for about 5 minutes then his hands get tired or he gives up. I'm using Born Free bottles which are quite wide, so its hard for him to get a good grip.

But I think he'd love this thing! Thanks for sharing!!

Its great to read everyone elses point of view about this, I personally use it with Jacob, I hold him and he holds his ba holder, I just think he prefers holding his bottle himself. I still get my cuddles and bonding most of his feeds. Its just so handy when we are in the car and he wants milk, before I would give him a bottle he would drop it and then go bananas. Suppose all babies and mums are different.
I think he finds it more fun and interesting using it, and he feels part of his feed rather then me just feeding him.
he is 6 months now been using it for 6 weeks and so far he loves it. Think it will be really useful as he progresses onto cups as it fits the cup i have too!

I think this is neat. I don't live in the UK but if I did, I'd buy it. When both my babies want to eat at the same time, I have them on my lap but do have to prop their bottles sometimes (always when I'm holding them though so never unattended). This is something that I can appreciate as a twin mom. Thanks for sharing. Maybe I can find something similar that is sold in the US.

I didn't even think of that. Usually when people in the uk talk about a product, I assume you can't buy it here. :)
