an extra bottle??

Hi

pls tell me if im being over cautious...i feed my LO Aptimal extra hungry, 5 bottles max per day as it says on the tub.
My LO is 17 weeks old and 19lbs. The max weight the tub states is 16lbs.
He usually sleeps through the night but has been waking up this past week.
Would you give him another bottle (even though the tub states max 5 per 24 hours)
Or would you introduce baby rice before bed.

I think what I ned to know is do you increase milk feeds before introducing solids?

I was always told not to pay any attention to the amounts on the tin, as your baby will dictate how much they want and how often. How many oz per bottle? Dylan is 15 weeks and has 6 bottles a day of SMA hungry baby - 4 x 6oz and 2 x 7oz. As far as I am aware, you increase the milk feeds before introducing solids, its if they still want more and aren't satisfied with milk alone that you start solids.

^^I agree, I never paid any attention to the guidelines on the tin...if he's hungry I'd give it to him. Hannah would hit growth spurts and throw an extra bottle in at us randomly when she was smaller

the guideline on the tin is for an average baby ...who knows what average is though...i never took any notice of them and archie ate when he wanted
he did start to have an extra bottle though from 5 to 6 at first i assumed growth spurt but then he wanted more and more so have started him on some puree

I'd offer more milk hun, the tin is just guidelines some babies need less and some more

yep agreed - found we used the tin as a rough guide, but mainly we have always followed how much maddi wants xx

I asked the HV the other day about how many feeds to give baby and she said the tin is a very rough guide. If baby is hungry then feed him.
