Hi there Ladies,

Well I'm sooo excited to announce the birth of my baby GIRL...
Isla Kirsten McNamara.

She arrived on June 22nd via csection(unplanned)...weighing 8lbs5oz!
I went in on Friday morning for my induction...baby had been flipping into breech position off and on(I had too much amniotic fluid so thats why)...they did an ultrasound that morning to check that she was infact head down for the induction.
Sure enough she was...and they proceeded to break my water. I wanted labour to start on it's own...so I avoided taking any type of pitocin. Since this is my 2nd baby...they assumed things would move along quickly! Well by 2pm my contractions were 2min apart, and strong...I was so happy to be in labour on my own! They checked how far dialated I was...and I was STILL only 2cm:( They also said that they couldn't feel the baby's head anylonger...so the dr quickly brought in the ultrasound machine, and checked...sure enough she had flipped her self in transverse position:( It was unavoidable ... I would have to have a csection.
But not only that... her back was covering my cervix, they would have to do an 'old fashioned' type csection...a vertical incision. I was SO upset to hear this.
There is more recovery from it, and more bleeding...and I will never be allowed to attempt a VBAC for my next pregnancy:( This made my husband really upset.
Ultimately...we just wanted the safe delivery of our baby though. We were brought down to the OR within 10 minutes. I had a reaction to the spinal...my blood pressure dropped like crazy, and I got REALLY sick, and dizzy .. almost passed out.
the whole procedure was SO different than my last experience. The lack of bed side manner from the dr's was crazy. But I wont get into that.
Within a few minutes our daughter was born! I was SO in shock to hear them announce that it was a little girl!! I was expecting another little boy to be honest.
Anyways the pediatrician was there at the birth, because 2 weeks ago an ultrasound I had done, indicated that the baby had an enlarged heart...which could mean ANYTHING...so they whisked my baby girl upstairs did an xray and EKG on her...among other tests..and he declared her to be PERFECTLY healthy....not a thing wrong with her heart.
I was in recovery (3hrs) while my husband was with our daughter during all her tests.
So I really had no idea what was going on...and to be honest I was totally out of it after the surgery anyways...
My 'natural' birth plan went out the window...but I'm just beyond happy that my baby girl is healthy and thriving...she breastfeeds like a CHAMP... and we are sooo thankful for her.
So thats a brief outline of my birth story lol! Recovery is ok...much different than a vaginal birth...really have to force myself to take it easy and rest. So thats been challenging...but every day seems to be better.

:wohoo: Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby girl! She is just perfect! Sorry you had to go through the csection but glad she came out completely healthy!

Congratulations on your little lady :) hope you have a quick recovery xx
