At my consultant appointment last week I was advised to take low dose aspirin as soon as (or if) I get a bfp. The thing is I've noticed peopleon here who take it whilst ttc too. Does it help conception? I have some in my drawer and wondered if it was worth starting to take them now?

Hi Snowball,

Personally I would start them straight away, my gyn told me in November to do this.

XXXXX

It apparently doesn't hurt, so its worth the try. I'm taking them because I need to try something! And it was also recommended to increase blood flow and eliminate potential clotting issues during the first couple weeks of pregnancy, even though I don't have a clot issue, just to eliminate one potential problem I guess.

Hi snowball

When having my D&C the doctor said to start taking them when I got pregnant but when I asked my consultant they advised me to start them while ttc. He is an expert in his field so to be honest I trust his opinion more!! Maybe if there are tiny blood clots it may affect bloodflow to the fetus very early on in pregnancy? I'm not certain but I'm going to start taking them after my first post mc AF.
Good Luck xx

Yes, its supposed to enhance the bloodflow to your reproductive organs. For those not 'prescribed' it i would urge them to let their doctor etc know. it can have re-precussions for some, which is why my doctor said its not a blanket drug they give to everyone as it is a blood thinner. Having said that, i find out soon if i'm put on it or not as i have my results apmt for repeat mc's on friday- and i was told they suspect that is the problem due to my history and background!! :)

hello snowball, yes im taking asprin now, 75mg, i have had 2 m/c and since dec i have been taking it, also i got my bfp in jan, and im still on it, so fingers crossed it may of worked this time around xxxxxxxxxx

Where do you purchase it from?

I am curious as although i have only had one MMC,i want to prevent any further ones if i can.

Vik

i bought it from the chemist, ask for 75 mg asprin xxxxxxxx

Hi Snowball!

I was told off my consultant to take it as soon as I get a :bfp:so I am going to wait until then....But I am tempted to start now. I haven't been found to have the blood clotting disorder he just said it would do no harm and that it helps the flow.

Good luck sweetie x x x

My consultant told me NOT to take it as unless you need it due to blood clotting probs it does more harm than good. But after 3 m/cs and I just got my period yesterday, I feel I need to do something and all your docs tell you to do it?

This is what i'm thinking. I know a few people here who didn't have blood clotting disorders and have taken it whilst ttc and got sticky bfp's after m/c's.

I started taking it again last night and I pray it will help me get a sticky bfp. Good luck to everyone else giving it a go too. We will get our sticky bfps soon :)

I don't have a blood clotting problem (been tested for everything) however, my consultant told me to take it and that's good enough for me.

XXX

Yeah my consultant said so to, said it could not do any harm because its such a low dose....I will try anything not to go through a m/c again

Hey Snowball, my consultant diagnosed a blood clotting problem for me, resulting in multiple early losses, but due to the way my body reacts to oestrogen (it increases clotting significantly). This was the first time I had taken aspirin and she believes it is why I am still pregnant and doing well ([-o<)with clexane injections (just over 12 weeks). The only way they could diagnose this for me was because I had a history of clots but from the pill, this isn't always the case however, the mw I saw today said that things like this are the most common reason she knows for recurrent early mc, but obviously not by any means the only one (and I know mine is an unusual and extreme case)

I really hope it works out for you, but from what I understand the low dose aspirin will not do you any harm at all :hugs:
