Just wondering at 8 weeks should I be in one yet?!?!?!?

LO woke and fed every 2hours last night and so I was knackered this morning. We both stayed in bed till 9 which is very late for me, (usually 7 at the latest) granted most of it was LO feeding but we did snooze some.

Just wondering do any of you have a morning routine and actually stick to it?? If you do does it then help your feeding and night time routine for the day???

Thanks.

xx

We had absolutely no routine at 8 weeks, apart from me trying to get as much sleep as possible!
It's only over the last 2 months or so that we've started a morning routine as her feed/sleep patterns are more predictable and we are out and about (baby groups etc) more so need to be ready at a reasonable hour!
It just didn't work for us trying to implement a routine but there are ladies on here who have, hopefully they'll be along soon with some actual advice-instead of my ramblings!

No I totally appreciate replies like that, you haven't rambled!!! I'm glad to hear that at 8 weeks i'm not the only one not to have a routine, I agree how hard it is when LO is so unpredictable with feeding and sleeping!!!

Thanks!!!

Nope, still haven't got one, don't think I'll have a routine for a while yet! Sorry I can't be of any help x

I never "enforced" a routine, but my LO kind of fell into her own little pattern (which I follow). She is 10 weeks old.

I didn't have a routine at 8 weeks! I do now, but that's only cause i've gone back to work so I need one for my sanity :haha:

You'll probably find your LO sort of falls into a routine all by themselves :)

We didn't have a routine at 8 weeks, we are very much baby led. We have a basic routine now but it is very much Ella's lead as we follow Ella's cues.

If it makes you feel any better, Isabelle is 6 months tomorrow and she doesn't have a routine yet.

J was in a routine of feeding and napping at around 3 weeks old and at 21 weeks he is still in it. Everyday starts at 7am and ends at 6:30pm. Works for us and he is a very happy little man x

anna is 8 weeks and we have no routine, we just do what she wants to do. Shes good at sleeping at night though, sometimes she sleeps a straight 7hrs and some she wakes twice for a feed. If she does sleep for 7 hrs she is normally awake for 7 hrs before which is exhausting.she can stay a wake from 6pm until 12pm sometimes with only little 10 minute naps inbetween.

I always think about your rigid but good routine and how you go on when it comes to growth spurts, days out, unwell days or just simply your Lo growing and changing and needing more or less feeding napping and pastime. Is he still in the exact same routine as 3 weeks old? Rorys changed so much since then. X

We started a night time routine with Max at 6 weeks but still no real strict routine during the day, we loosely follow the EASY routine but its more AESY for us lol. I say loosely as it can vary on days when we are out all day and Max doesn't get proper naps etc. We started off with a routine as I was rubbish at reading his cues lol, now I have a better idea of what he needs/wants!

Simon didn't get into a routine until 7 months. I wouldn't worry, imo trying to put and keep baby on a routine at this stage is just a headache for everyone. If you pay close attention to her schedule you might find that she already has a loose routine, but don't get too stressed because it will be constantly changing as she grows and develops. I wasted time on that baby whisperer book sleep schedule only to realize that I really don't agree with most of it. Just when you think you have it figured it out, LO will change all the rules. The only routine that was sacred in my house was bedtime, because mommy needs a break.

Agree  x

We only have a nighttime routine, which actually seems to have helped over the last few weeks. It gives her a better idea of night v day. But daytime routine is still entirely baby run.

It's not quite as rigid as it seems to be honest hun.. I mean when someone asks what I do then I lay it out as best I can with times etc...
I do adjust it to suit his development ... for example a growth spurt just means a top up feed just before lunch time nap and one at 5pm before his bath.. thats it. I dont get any sleeping issues and he hasnt been ill yet.
The routine he was in at 3 weeks allowed for a lot more sleep and the night feeds at 2 and 4/5am. So it kinda changes as he grows.
On days we need to be out I forgo his lunch time nap in his cot and instead he sleeps in his pram or on a playmat if we are in someones house.
We are off to Sonisphere festival with him in July but he will still nap at his usual times because he gets tired. He will still go down to sleep at the same time at night too. It is a very workable routine and we have certainly found it so very helpful.
I have 4 other boys that I look after (my brothers, long story!) so I absolutely have to be organised with my day. :) x
