Anovulatory cycles experience?

I do believe that I am experiencing an anovulatory cycle. After 8 months of temping, I have always had a temp rise and about 10-13 days later, it drops, and I know that I have ovulated. Now I am on cd38 and had a slight rise for about 6 days and then it fell for the last 3 days, and now I am spotting red/brown. Fertility Friend had me marked for O on cd29, but after I plugged in the low temp for today (which would have been 9dpo), it took away my crosshairs. Even FF doesn't think I O'd now. Sad!

Since I have no history of this in the last 8 cycles, should I be worried? I think I have read that every woman can experience this at one point or another, and that it is only worrisome if it is consistent pattern in your cycles. True? And will my next cycle be (hopefully) back to normal after I am done bleeding/spotting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes you are right a lot of women experience annovulatory cycles. It's nothing to worry about. Let your cycle pan out and see if af comes. Then next cycle can be a fresh one. if af doesn't come, test and go doctors.

I have annovulatory cycles and until recently have started getting ovulation.

This is due to my losing weight.

Maybe this month you have been under stress, eating crap or drank more alcohol? Xx

You are right--I think it is due to stress. AF started today, so at least in a few days, I can start all over again. I have clearly ovulated in previous 8 months through charting, so I am hoping that this is just a one-time occurrence and hopefully next month a BFP! Thanks for the reply.

Hi there.. just wondering how much weight have you lost? I'm thinking this is also where my problem lies, i think extra weight is messing with my hormones...? but how come there have been others who are overweight and still can get pregnant?

I have always asked that question. I have a friend who is 5ft 2, weighs 22 stone and had a healthy and uncomplicated pregnancy 'by accident'

The only complication she had was the actual birth as midwives etc had to be cautious with her due to her weight.

I have lost 6 stone in a year.

The birth control made me pile the pounds on so that for each age I was, I was that number in stones (aged 15 - 15 stone etc). I came off the pill when I was 21 and I was 20 stone 11lbs! I am 6ft tall which meant it didn't show my weight like that but it was obviously crushing my insides and stopping insulin, hormones and the likes from being balanced.

I am now 14 stone 10 and I aim to lose another 2 stone by July 2014. However if I fall pregnant before then, then I would just maintain and put on healthy pregnancy weight.

I am 23 now too so I'm estactic to not be 23 stone!

I started a diet in October, in December I had my first natural period in 9 years so it does show that weight affects the body hugely. I am now ovulating well with slightly longer than average cycles (45 days) but at least I'm getting them!

Xx

Wow, good for you!! I think weight is my problem too. I went on BC right before I got married 5 years ago, and before BC I was regular. I have now been off BC for over 15 months and am still irregular. I get a period every month and have ovulated for the last 8 that I have been temping, but the days are always so different. 37 day cycle here, a 29 day there, a 33 day cycle there. Weird! But I also weighed about 50lbs lighter 5 years ago.
I was on anxiety meds for 1 year and a half for mild anxiety issue, and I gained like 10lbs in a month on that! So I do wonder if I was the same weight I was 5 years ago if my periods would be regular coming off of BC.

And YES--I have 2 girls I know that are quite large women and both are/were pregnant. And then I always think to myself, "well, what's the point in losing weight if I will just gain weight when I get pregnant"...but what if I could have gotten pregnant 8 months ago if I had gotten off the couch and worked out?

Thank you for reassuring me that HOPEFULLY this anovulatory cycle is a one-time issue and that it is common. I was so disheartened when I saw my temp drop on 7dpo. Just hoping and praying for the next cycle!

My last cycle (my first off birth control) was anovulatory. I just wanted to mention a couple things I learned. You might not have much beyond the red/brown spotting. I only had 2 days, never any heavier, and apparently that's pretty normal in an anovulatory cycle. Also, watch out for early ovulation next cycle. Though I'm not convinced yet, it seems likely I O'd CD9 this cycle. I hadn't even started OPKs for the cycle yet! I researched it and apparently that's also not uncommon.

Good to know curiousowl. Last night, I was only spotting, but today has been heavier, like a normal period. I have to definitely wear a pad/tampons. It's mostly light red/dark red; I am also having AF cramps and feel bloated. I am unsure if breakthrough bleeding can mimic AF so much, but part of me is still convinced that I O'd but after 6 days, my temp dropped for some reason. FF had me O'ing and then took the crosshairs away from the temp dropped for 3 days straight. Here's my chart:

Yeah, I've also heard that after an anovulatory cycle you can also have what seems like a normal AF or even a heavy one. Looking at your chart it doesn't look to me like you O'd but like you say, sometimes it just happens. I wouldn't worry!

Thanks! Wow, by looking at your chart, you did O early! But I bet you were glad to see that O after your anovulatory cycle...and your temps looks good. You and I have about the same temp range.

Thanks for the help...I am definitely hoping and praying that this cycle goes back to ovulation (which it should), and even though DH and I are bummed that this cycle wasn't the one (it's now been 12 months), if we conceive this next cycle, the due date would be in December--and I LOVE winter/Christmas, etc.

Good luck to you!!

Thanks! And good luck to you as well :) I'm sure you will go right back to normal and I'm hoping for a December baby for you.

As for me, yeah my temps are pretty convincing! My CM is kind of throwing me though so as you can see, I'm still doing OPKs at supposedly 7dpo, lol. We'll see. I think only a normal AF or a BFP will convince me I actually O'd!

Hi Ladies,
I am a newbie at TTC #1. Can someone have a look and make sense of my weird cycle and symptoms?

I had a 30 day cycle like clockwork, but last month I had a first TTC and first annovulatory cycle ( I thought I was pregnant!) and period was induced using provera. This cycle, I had all O symptoms ( temp drop, EWCM, O pains) on 9dpo but I went for follicle scan on 11dpo and 13dpo and it showed multiple small follicles (1-2 mm) and no signs of O'ing!!

could I have ovulated and yet have left over follicles? I really dont know where I am in my cycle! Maybe another annovulatory cycle is due for me. But why now when we are TTC, after decade of regular cycles

Do you use OPKs and temp? I notice that you said that you had a temp drop, but did it rise to confirm O? I am sorry about your weird cycles--that's odd for someone so regular! Was the annovulatory cycle the first one that you were temping?

Yes, my cycles were really behaving weird last 2 times, last one being annovulatory. So this cycle my OB/Gyn ordered a follicle scan. As of CD16 I have one follicle at 12 mm. Small, but I am hopeful it will mature and I will O by CD 19.. FX!:happydance:
