Any one had this and needed a c section my best mate has it and no one is telling her much

It's covering her cervix by 2 cm x

I have placenta praevia and my placenta, at the last scan, was covering the cervix by 2.5cm. I had a small bleed at 31 weeks and have spent the remainder of my pregnancy in hospital. I have since had one large, quite scary bleed and 2 smaller ones which have helped to reassure me that I'm in the right place. Im having a c-section tomoro at 37 + 5wks. My only advice would be to listen to whatever the doctors tell her, the big bleed that I had a couple of weeks ago was enough to convince me how dangerous this can be. X

shes really worried she has her consultant later on she has spotted all the way through and is 22 weeks

what are the chance of it moving

At 22 weeks the chances of it moving are high. Around 90% that are picked up at 20 weeks move up out of the way.

At 22 weeks the chances to move is very good, it's like 90%! Later on, they have to make one more scan to see the position of the placenta after the 30 weeks. How the uterus is growing, the placenta is moving as well.
I also had it with 2 cm. I just had a scan last week at 32 to see how is t with the placenta. Planceta moved totally away and there is no need for c-section

Mine was low at 20 week scan, was re-scanned at 28 weeks and it had moved out of the way, so I wouldn't worry this early on x

As others have said there is a high chance of the placenta moving. When I was pregnant with DD2 I was told at my 20 week scan that my placenta was low lying but when I went for a scan at 32 weeks it had moved. I anticipated that the same would happen this time around but it hadn't. I would definitely recommend that she puts together an emergency hospital bag for herself, just bits and pieces that she would want to have with her if she was to go in in a hurry. Fingers crossed her placenta does move x

with my DD I had low lying anterior placenta - cant remember the percentage of the cover - but was given an additional scan at 32 weeks and it had completely moved.

All of the advice and research I did three years ago was similar - that the placenta moves out of the way closer to EDD as baby moves and grows etc.

I didn't need a c-sec.

I had a low lying placebta at 20 weeks and was told it would probably have moved by my next scan at 32 weeks. Come 32 weeks it hadn't moved. I was supposed to be referred to a consultant but my appointment never came through so the only information I had was what I found on Google. At 36 weeks I suddenly started bleeding at home. Luckily I got to hospital fairly quickly as the blood literally started pouring from me, they couldn't stop it so delivered baby by emergency c section within 2 hours of getting there. He spent 2 weeks in scbu as he didn't cope well with the section.

Hopefully by the time it matters the placenta will have moved but otherwise listen very carefully to the advice given by doctors, it can be a very scary situation
