Hi Girls

So my favorite topic to post is about my good old anterior placenta!!

I am 29 weeks and although I feel movement, there is certainly no pattern and I am still not feeling much, probably a few a day. Sometimes 10 but sometimes no where near.

I have been to the assessment unit lots about it and as far as they can see the baby is absolutely fine, I have had CTG monitoring and an ultrasound. They are just putting it down to the fact that my placenta is completely covering my bump but it is so frustrating.

I feel like I am missing out on one of the best parts of pregnancy. Don't get me wrong I do feel movement but nothing like I should and if i am active/standing up or even sitting at my desk I don't feel much.

I am now having weekly monitoring at the hospital, mainly for my reassurance but it is just driving me insane.

I was just wondering for the ladies with anterior placentas, what kind of movement are you feeling now we are a bit further along? I have noticed I get more wiggling rather than kicks now and its a shame cause the kicks were what I could feel the most.

I don't mind if you say that even with your anterior placenta you are feeling loads, I just want to know what my movement is like in comparison to others with an anterior placenta!

Thanks :)

I get mostly prods and pokes from when baby makes big movments.

One thing iv found is that if i lie down and put my hand on the side of my bump i can feel baby moving against my hand but i cant feel it in my bump IYGWIM.

I'm getting plenty of pokes but not many real hard kicks. I feel him a little during the day but if I'm distracted with work then I don't really feel much. He is much more active in the evenings although I'm never kept awake by his movements in the night or anything.

So what you mean hun is that if you didn't have your hand there you wouldnt feel it? I can't sit at work with my hand on my tummy all day- how would I type hahaha! Do you find it frustrating or are you relaxed about it?

Id feel a little but its not till i put my hand there that i realise how much it is moving. Lol i dont do it all day, on an evening or when i go to bed.

Im not too botherd about it, i think if it was my second and i had something to compare it to it might bother me.

I think it doesn't help that everyone at my work is pregnant and they constantly go on about feeling the baby :(

I often wish I could feel LO more....like you I feel like I am missing out sometimes. People are always asking about how much he is moving, and hubby has only ever felt a kick once but I just don't feel that many kicks.

Like lozzy, I have had the same experience where I can feel the kicks on the outside but nothing inside my bump. I have also had a couple of days where he seemed very quiet but I could hear dozens of kicks through the doppler. I think that happens when he turns his back to my front and kicks me inside rather.

Just had the last 2 weeks off sick and noticed a lot more movement as I was lying about most of the day. I find he moves way more when my hand is resting on my bare bump for some reason. While I am at work I almost never feel anything. I also haven't really noticed a distinct pattern.

At least the docs are monitoring you and, if they are happy, then you should be able to relax in the meantime. :hugs:

I was told at my 12 and 20 week scans that I had an anterior placenta, but it must have moved up with all the growing I done since cos I'm getting some almighty movements, twists and turns. I'm guessing my placenta is now higher up.

On average how many are you getting a day hun? Mine can really vary, its just frustrating as well cause there seems to be no pattern. So one day she might do a little faint kick before I get up to go to work which will reassure me for a bit, but then sometimes she won't at all and then I will just sit at work all day feeling stressed or not concentrating on my work! She never seems to kick during the night when I am in bed either.
Are you getting rolls and things? I am not sure if I am experiencing them or not because they are sometimes quite muffled!

Thanks for humoring me! :dohh:

and hubby has only ever felt a kick once but I just don't feel that many kicks.

No-one else has felt him kick from the outside at all, even with me now being 34 weeks. I'm sure my sister thinks I'm doing it on purpose!!!!

I'm lucky in that I'm quite chilled out about it all. I will lie in bed for a few minutes in the morning and wait for some movement though but that leaves me secure for the rest of the day. I'm busy at work so I'm not dwelling on it too much.

See I am lucky in that respects that my hubby has felt her kick quite a lot. Its strange isn't it? I wish I was relaxed I am not at all. Do you still feel kicks or do you feel more rolling type movements now?

A lot of prods under my ribs mostly (he is lying quite high still due to previous abdominal surgery) but I can usually feel the alligator death rolls a couple of times in the evenings.

What do the rolls feel like? I think I feel wiggling but I wouldnt say they are full on rolls? Sorry for all the questions hun but I like to hear from people who are further along!

I couldn't really say how many I am getting in a day. I have had some days where I probably only felt 1 or 2 in a day and was about to dash up the hospital before I used my doppler and could hear loads and loads of movements. I feel wiggles and taps but don't think I have anything I would consider a "roll". Think I have felt his head or bum pushing up against my bump a few times becuase there is a hard mound in that area that disappears after a short while.
All movements though seem muffled and no way as strong as I always imagined baby movements to feel! Sometimes they are so subtle I half wonder if I am imagining them...

Have noticed as well that the things people say normally gets their LOs moving doesn't work on mine - icy drinks, hot drinks, fizzy, caffiene, jumping about, warm baths, light, lying on my side....makes no difference it seems. I was sure though a couple of times he went slightly more active when i drank a cup of warm milk of all things!

My mum says I was such a quiet baby and she would go days and days without feeling me. She had placenta previa wo should have felt more but I was just a placid baby. :flower:

Thanks hun, I guess we are just going to have well behaved, placid babies that never ever cry! :haha:
