i was put on sertaline for pnd- got it really bad:cry:
they helped me for 6 months then fell pregnant so decided to come off them.

im struggling with not taking them but only have a month left.

no doubt ill need them post partum BUT can they be taken whilst bf?
its v important to me to bf as last time i think failing to bf added to my pnd.

I believe sertraline is considered the safest and most suitable Anti depressent while BF xx

My psychiatrist told me Celexa and Zoloft are very very safe. With Celexa, the therapeutic level does not show residuals in Breastmilk. He also suggested Zoloft, but I can't take it. I will continue taking my celexa throughout my pregnancy and while BFing under the care of my psychiatrist.

I asked my psychiatrist about this with regards to celexa, so you would have to look into it more with zoloft. With celexa, the therapeutic doses are between 20-40 mgs, 40 being top range. At 40 mgs, yes, it can delay onset by one day, but does not impact supply. At 20 mgs, there is no notable difference in onset or supply.

Have you seen the anti-depressant info sheet here? https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/drugs-in-breastmilk-information-and-factsheets.html Some good info.

Fantastic resource! Thank you!

I'm on sertraline for PND and it hasn't affected my supply or my bubba! It's made me feel human again and they've advised me next time round to start it on my 39 week of pregnancy. It's totally safe.

Definitely. Even if its just to make an action plan and know what to do should you feel your mood slipping. Also know all the contacts you need in a crisis.
