Antibiotic hell!

Ds is 2 and has a nasty ear infection. (Diagnosed two days ago) he had one a few weeks ago so they didn't want to repeat amoxicillin. We are on augmentin. Since starting it, ds has almost stopped eating completely. In two days he has eaten a bowl of blueberries, a mini muffin, and a piece of bread. He was drinking normally but now that is starting to decrease.

Today the diharrea started. 7 absolutely pure water diapers and complaints of stomach pain, i decided not to give him his evening dose and will consult with his doctor in the morning.

He's never been this exhausted and tired. It's heartbreaking and he's so tired. I tried getting some yogurt in him but it's just not working. He's refusing almost all food.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

Go back and get a different antibiotic. Some of them can irritate your stomach.

Sounds like penecillin allergy.

My ds didn't eat on amoxycillin. But he also had a really bad ear infection & that can affect appetite too. Just plenty of fluids if you can & get back to the drs tomorrow x

Aw bless. My parents still talk about the time I had augmentin as a toddler and ran huge circles around the the entire house (went hysterical when they tried to stop me) for hours at a time.

If you've not finished the course, give it with yogurt which can counteract some of the absorption. But I would go ahead and call the doctor and see what they suggest
