Hi all,

I have been taking a one a day antihistamine for approx 8 years for a skin allergy which has never been identified by the docs. Their solution was simply to take antihistamine. I continued to take it during both pregnancies after confirming with my docs which was the safest kind and breastfed with my daughter and so far with Archie this time with no issues with supply.

I decided that I would try to wean myself off the "itchy pills" as I was sure it was just habit that made me take them everyday. I started this 4 days ago and it's going well so far, I'm itching but not in a " I have fleas" kind of way :haha:

So my question is since I have stopped taking the itchy pills I feel like my supply has dropped. Today especially I haven't had the fullness feeling I usually get and have noticed my little boy fussing more during his feed like he's still hungry after feeding off both sides.

I've read a lot of information about antihistamine having an affect on your milk supply but nothing about coming off it after taking it for a while. Do you think this could be a reason for a drop in supply?

I have drunk around 2 1/2 litres of water/juice today in a bid to keep my supply up and have been pumping off milk for a couple days as well ( not very successfully I might add) for an event I have coming up mid July but still don't feel satisfied with my boobs.

Does anyone have any theories or suggestions please? Xx

Hmm strange! Have u had any alcohol? Could just be your body adjusting to dropping meds. Haven't been through that but I would imagine it will go away. Push fluids and try not to stress! Also limit caffeine if necessary. There are supplements u can take to increase supply...a tea I believe.

I don't drink alcohol at all so can't be that. I think I will have to go down the fenugreek, porridge oats, tea route :nope:
