I have a healthy nearly 2-year old baby girl and had a great pregnancy and delivery with her. It was my first pregnancy.
Nearly two weeks postpartum, I started having a sharp pain in my left calf which was misdiagnosed as mere "muscle pains." A week later I found myself being admitted to the hospital with pulmonary embolisms in both lungs and was told that I was lucky to be alive.
Since then, I have been diagnosed with anti-phospholipid syndrome and will be taking Warfarin for life.
My husband and I are in the process of deciding whether or not to try again for another baby and are beyond torn with this decision. We have gotten mixed opinions from different doctors about the associated risks and are having a hard time processing the severity of the risks.
Maybe it's the mommy thing in me, but despite the risks, I really want to have another baby... my husband on the other hand is more reluctant and worried about the risks.
I would be on Heparin injections throughout pregnancy and would be followed by high risk consultants.
I would really appreciate some APS mommies feedback/experiences.. and perhaps some guidance to helping us make the right decision.
Thank you in advance
